I've raced a 95 vr6 golf with my 2000 b18b civic. We were beside each other in 1st and 2nd, but he ruined me at the top of 2nd and 3rd.

Those run about a 15.0 with an intake. They're not slow, but they're not fast. I'd say you just need to upgrade your motor to a 1.6 and get rid of the 1.5.

I tear up 1.8T GTI's by like a car and a half. So I'm sure the vr6 will be no biggy.

i'd say w/ better tuning your 1.5 should take it. a golf vr6 gti weighs like 3200lbs.

Golf VR6 Golf 1.8T....only one word for them if they are stock.."Slow"
All the talk about 1.8T and VR6 blah blah is all overrated man the 1.8T comes with a puny K03 and the VR6 is rated at 175 crank hp in a weight happy Hatchback.

I don't think 15.3 is super fast your anything, but its not really slow either...

My friend has a GTi 1.8T with a few bolt ons ( including the APR chip that is proven to given at least 35Whp ) and his car makes about 220whp and 245ft/LBS. of torque... It only has bolt-ons...

The VR6 is OK, but VW de-tunes the crap outta the 1.8T so the VR6 will stay the "top option".

BTW the 15.3 time comes from motor trend.

hey, sorry for the late reply, just got back from work. just wanna thank you all for all the inputs. I also wanna add that my buddy vr6 does has some mods, intake, gutted exhaust and a chip. B4 we raced, we spent an hour at the dyno, and his car put down 164 to the wheels. I dunno if that explains one of the reasons why I lost. And yes i'm still pretty upset about this whole deal, The fact he had a better start(tourque helps out a lot) by the time my turbo starts spoolin by 2.5k, he was already a good car legth ahead, and I never cought up. I will post pics tonite but i need someone to help me out puttin on hmt. Imma dumbass when it comes to that. just aim me if ya can help its iwaidai one thing i was very afraid was when racing was tire spin, which i was too worried about and i didn't launch high, i think it was at 3k when i dumped the clutch, and the car had a weak start, but when boosting my tires spins out around 4k. dis the same on second when boosting but wasn't that bad.

well thats good to hear boost n ls, In my experience i did get to put down 1 vr6. I wont put any car down for being slow but i was running my dohc zc and a t3 turbo with fmu. By the end of 2nd gear i was closed to 8 cars ahead and that was spinning the whole way, bone stock suspension and street tires. its not so much the torque your buddies car made that he ate you off the line, its traction, through some slicks on ur car launch at 5(in boost if you had a small turbo and GD) and see the difference at the end of first gear

Thats only when the 1.8t is stock.Chiped they will put out 225 to the fly wheel. That is with just a chip.

If you go with a kkk4,different manni.,bigger downpipe.intercooler,chip,3"exhoust,fmu,drop in K&N,WITH STOCK INTERNALS at 22 psi that 1.8t will put out 320HP easily. They have a lot of potential but parts are verry, verry expensive. That list is about 4 grand worth of ----.In a bug or a Jetta that good for 11s.
