Default GT28RS.. anything similar? any users?

I've been looking at some honda dyno charts, with everything from T25's up to GT40's+, and i've really fell in love with the GT28RS low end torque made on smaller displacement engines.

does anyone have experience with running the disco potato? Is there an adapter plate that would allow me to bolt a GT28RS to my T3 flanged manifold?

the main reason i'm leaning in this direction is; i'm sick of having to rev my 1.6L (b16 torqueless shitplant) up to 5k rpm to accelerate with the lead foot commuters on our busy streets, and I want some torque during normal sub-5k rpm driving.

what would compare to the GT28RS without the big sticker price?

td04, 14b, 42/48 etc

low 200hp turbos are pretty much all the same.

the difference is the GT28RS comes in a .82 A/R hot side and loses it's breath around 350whp on honda motors.. sounds like the ultimate street car turbo to me.. 200wtq @ 4k rpm

t-3 .42/.48 on my old b16 made full boost (8psi) at like 2500 rpms

Talk about fun

hey i will chime in as i used to have this exact question and desire, what i found that is cheap and competes is the big 16g turbo, the big 16g has incredible low end spool and ends up maxing out around high 200s maybe low 300s if parts are matched right. the 14b is also a great low end turbo but maxes out much sooner, and if you can afford it the bastard 20g from slowboy racing is a great low end with decent top end turbo.

That's an .82 a/r T2 turbine housing btw. Not the same as an .82 a/r T3. $1K for 350whp? Jesus Christ hasn't HMT taught you anything? You already have a T3 manifold, sojust find a turbo with that. They make a very small .36 a/r turbine housing for the T3 68 trim turbine if you're really wanting things to get moving, but .48 is totally acceptable.

I use a 46 trim t04e mated to a t3 .48 ar hotside. Makes boost from ~3K on my d16, doesnt fall on its face in the upper revs like my old .42/.48, and it was cheap

Yea, I've decided to pick up the old school T3 .42/.48 for now.. no way in hell was I planning on paying 1k for a little turbo. I'm just looking for something to put my powerband in the torque region until I get another car. Once I have something else to drive, the coupe will be running a much more aggressive setup than it is now. thanks for the input though.
