thats really weird. My uncrushed dsm valve holds 18psi, rock steady. Diesels dont have BOV's.... and they have non ball bearing turbos. Guess you dont need one either, but when your talking about a $2,000 turbo... id buy a tial

stock dsm bovs usually flow just fine to prevent compressor surge. I dont think id try running without one on such an expensive turbo, i mean, compressor surge in general is damaging, just because the turbo survived it doesnt mean id like to have going into surge all the time, unless you like shaft play. Oh yeah, diesels dont have throttle plates either, when is the last time you heard a diesel surge?

Not the hundreds I've seen.

Desiels don't have Throttle Plates, Thus no need to discard the excess pressure smashing into the Compressor.

Diesels surge, its just that since they dont have throttle plates there isnt as much of a violent stop for the air as if it had a throttle plate. I thought I remembered reading an article where garrett was developig an electronic BOV specifically for deisels.

If you listen when he lets off in this video you can har the compressor surge.
