Default greddy 15g tunning...

im buying a used greddy kit for a d16....the guy im gettin git from had it on a stock block with a built head he had it tuned on a p28 to run 10 pounds. he said he will include the chip for the ecu for me to use as fuel managment. but the question i have is is it gonna work for me? sine he had a build head and im gonna run the kit on a stock motor? he also ran 440 injectors which is what i would be buying. should i get a p28 get a socket put in and run that chip? or should i get the 440 and a fmu with a missing link and go that way...if the whole build and stock head wont have any affect i would go that way but im not sure....

It depends on what a "built" head is. If it was mildly ported with a stock cam you should be fine but I would try to go easy on it and get a real tune as soon as you can.

You can't run 440cc injectors without a chipped ecu or at least an afc. A chipped ecu is the only way to go.

im not sure exactly what he had he told me he had a jp dynamics head.....so if i got the 440 and put this chip into the ecu would i be able to go get a tune using this chip or would i need a new one?

i would like to just get a fmu but u were sayin u can only run 440 cc injectors with a chipped ecu? what injectors would i want to run with a fmu?

fmu suck because unless you want a horrible idle your stuck with your stock injectors which will explode and fly threw your skull if you try to push it past 7psi. just get a basemap from chris ATLEAST. then save your pennys for a tune.

well if i was to get a basemap how would i go about doing this i would need to get a obd1 ecu right and harness right? and i would still need injectors so would i be able to just run the chip that this guy sends me with the kit and then when i get the money go get it retuned?

The chip itself can be erased and reprogrammed. If you use his chip and the same size injectors you should be able to drive the car.

Fmu's do suck, but they can get you buy if you already have one or know someone that has one you can borrow.

I'm not sure what to make of the idle comment. Without some sort of control, you can't run anything bigger than the stock 240cc injectors. Anything bigger than that with the stock ecu will run horribly at any rpm and load and also will wash the oil from the cylinder walls and ruin the engine.

aright so if his chip was tuned to 10 pounds with 440's i should be able to get some 440's obd1 ecu bolt the kit up and throw the ecu in with his chip and i should be able to drive my car while i save money to have it retuned specifaly to my car. also how does the chip get installed in the ecu? also with this i would not have to buy a missing link since it would have the chip in the ecu right?

what do u guys think would be better either way i have to get a ecu and get it socketed so you think i should go on phearable.net and get a ecu with a basemap from there and use that intill i have the money to tune it or get a rcu and run his chip at 10 pounds while i save for the tune?

The ecu has to be socketed and a few other parts installed to run on a chip. Go with Xenocron for your basemap and ecu. His basemaps are pretty much the best. If you. Ant afford to buy a chipped ecu, I offer chipping services for a pretty reasonable price.

You don't need the missing link when you run a chipped ecu.

Don't run 10psi till your car is tuned. It doesn't take much to ruin a stock block at that power level. If you absolutly have to boost before you get tuned, keep it at 5psi. If you have never driven a boosted car that will keep you happy for a little bit.
