yeah, that's how you would have to do it unless you got a different oil pan.

When I had my b16 oil came out of the fitting with the drain line off. I had the fitting up as high as possible too.

maybe u had too much oil in thar :P

liquids ALWAYS find the same level. so it will back up oil to the level of the oil in the pan.

Yes. "kinda like all the cyl. just took a crap at once" What does it mean?

no, he's not joking, oil should not come out of the drain fitting if you take the return line off, if so, this means that it is below the 'fill level', it needs to be above the oil level so that the oil can drain in to it, it will just get backed up and CAUSE YOUR TURBO TO SMOKE it's too low. do you have a pic of it? it should be about this high.......

sounds like you may have the same problem.

my return line is just as high as urs, and oil comes out of my fitting....on a 1st gen b16. those motors take 10 quarts of oil right :P
-how old is ur tubo???

i have a d15 but no oil comes out of the fitting.. i think i need to figure out a new route for my oil return line, i think its developed a crimp in it and is causing the car to smoke

Re:Got brave today

I've always had oil com back out of the fitting in the pan when I've taken the drain off...and it looks almost exactly like the picture there. I have NEVER had my turbo leak ANY oil at all..you could eat off it!! Keep in mind that the oil level will be lower in the pan when the car is running...as long as you have it as far up on the side as you can you should be fine...another idea...weld up that hole and make theaded one in the block right above the pan...(if that's not too high that is...)
