Good turbo for B16??

As the title says, would this have a bad lag time and will it last through 9k rpms?

i would think that turbo would work fine. my friend is going to turbo his b16 and he is a bit confused if he wants that same turbo you just posted or the other T3/T4E that that guy has for sale also. i would think both would spool decently and pull all the way to redline

that might not be enough turbo....the 48 exhaust wheel will hold u back

hotrex: even being a t3/t4???

90 SiR Hatchie: the super 60 he has isnt a real super 60 t3. the one he has still has a .48 exhaust which may be too small for a b16 if you want hard top end pull and more boost. have you seen the T3/T4E that he sells? that one looks good also and is like $40-50 more

Agreed. A B16 should have a .63a/r and go for a 54 trim. That will make very streetable whp. 0 psi on a turbo exhaust(2.5"-3") will probably hit around 4500-5k rpm which gives you about 3000rpm of full boost and pull ------- hard to redline

a .48 will spool a hell of a lot earlier but also it will stop making power probably around 7k rpm. really limit your top end on an engine that relies on big top end to make up for its total lack of tq.

I think im gettin confused... The turbine(hot) side is almost always 48/ar on a T3 correct?? Now what i should be concerned about is the size of the compressor wheel correct?? And the Compressor housing ar???

With the turbo listed above (T3-To4b), it has a 54 trim compressor wheel and 60/ar housing, and the hot side is 48/ar. You think that turbo will be too small for a B16??

Re:Good turbo for B16??

its not that its too small or too big, its not the correct turbo for your application. If you are going to spend money now, atleast buy the right turbo the first time.

A .48 on the hot side simply will not produce as well as a .63 on the hot side. You should really find a turbo that is a .63/.60 with about a 54 trim.

You could even probably get away with a .63/.60 T3 but a TRUE Super 60 would be the best for your needs.

i totally agree! a 63/60 should be better. a 48 exhaust will cause quick spool but will lack on top end.
