Default Garret turbo, will it work?

Alright, ive been on here awhile, thought i knew what i was doing when i bought my turbo, a refurbished from factory garret t25. It was cheap, 300 bucks, and basically brand new. Well, i even asked an experienced turbo enthusiast, (dont want to same name jsut incase), if this turbo would be ok, seemed suspicious. e said it would be fine. Well, i received it a while ago, and noticed there was no exhaust flange, ON THE TURBO ITSELF. So i went, hmmm, ill jsut buy my own and weld them on. Before i say anymore, heres the turbo.

The exhaust is .89, and the intake is .48, basically, the exhaust is 3 inchs. I was told this would be fin for my d16z6 minime. Well, i also recently read somewhere that it would flow real good but not make much boost, and have too much lag. Is this true? I realize its a t25 compressor bolted to a t3 exhaust, becasue the flange is a t3, and the exhaust housing is probably lef tover from a hybrid turbo.

Would i be fine using this turbo, and just welding my own flange on it, or should i try and get ahold of a smaller exhaust housing? ANd if so, what. I would probably need a smaller turbine wouldnt i, i dont really know, since ive never pulled a turbo apart before. ANy held is appreciated, tahnx...

wow thats a really weird t25. i dont get why someone would put a 3 exhaust turbine on with .89 a/r housing. late spool and crappy CFM from the small side.. usually its the other way around.

anyways, .89 a/r on a d16 is gonna lag, bad! (dependant on manifold also)

i couldnt see that spool anything lower then 6 grand..

I doubt ill be able to sell it to make my money back. So will any t3 exhaust housing bolt on to this? If so, where can i find one, and, wjat do i do about the turbine?

It won't spool at all. The Z6 doesn't have the pressure. It'll hit 3psi max. If you are going to get another exhaust housing get one with a V-Band discharge. This is by far the greatest way of connecting a downpipe. No bolts, one clamp and the ability to run 3 inch downpipe

i have the EXACT SAME TURBO, to be honest its a piece of ----. i have it on jdm d15b. the ---- takes a year and a day to spool, like 5k (if you look at the size of the damn back housing). i dont mind a lil lag as long as im gonna make up for it with alot of boost. but ----, the compressor side is small as ***. im like wtf? i did some inquiring and i found out that the turbo came of a izuzu NPR box truck. thats no hybrid turbo, thats how they come

its you havent bought it yet, DONT. im trying to get rid of mine now...

just my $0.02

oh man, you got jipped bad. The exhaust is way too big. And i personally think your compressor might be too small. If you dont plan on running more than 200whp, then you should be fine with that compressor. Your best bet is to find a different exhaust housing, i'd recommend a .48 if your not gonna push more than 250 whp. I dunno what kind of wheel is on there. cant help you there.
