ive been looking at different threads on tuning but i still cant find anywhere that says if running 56 psi will be safe or not.

if you are really worried about doing it right you need some form of fuel management atleast, fuel and timing managment would be better, but i can see you are going to skimp on the IMPORTANT things so i wont try to list the possible routes you can take in order to successfully put together a home made turbo setup and have it function properly while being safe for the engine. just read ALOT, and ask questions when you have them, dont rush or you will be doing it all again soon.

no man dont do that. hit up chris (xenocron) and get your ecu chipped w/ a basemap. put the ---- in and take it to someone and have it tuned. end up spending less on parts, more on labor, but will be much more efficient, and reliable in the end. you figure $500 on the ecu and tune and you still are only double what an AFC cost, but trust me you wont regret it if you upgrade or anything.

dude $500 on that ----? xeno's ecu's are under 2, i just got mine in

you can dyno tune for under $200 if your just paying for the dyno time, and under 300 if your haveing someone else tune it

i'll have less then $400 into my ecu and tune

btw my fuel pressure is 60 at idle and WOT so i'd say not to worry about yours

yeah, w/ the ecu and tuning you should be good figuring $500 into the budget. or if you are confident w/ your soldering skills chip it yourself, and spend the rest of the money on dyno and street tuning. i didnt mean $500 on just an ecu to clear that up if thats what you thought.

So............................... what were you planning on doing about your ECU? It will go into limp mode as soon as it sees positive pressure in your manifold. Unless you have check valves or a missing link or something (even so, you still need an AFC.... or an FMU at the LEAST).


You will hate yourself if you ---- up your car. Don't boost until you have a handle on what you're doing for engine management.... like they recommended, a standalone system would be best. You've already spent money on the turbo setup.... spend a little more to make sure it runs right.
