Fuel Mileage Question
How does turboing a motor effect fuel economy. I know it will decrease do to increased fuel flow, but how significant is it. I realize there are lots of variables here, but what is a ballpark. I want to run 450's with afc on my d16y7 at about 10 psi. WIll mileage go down a ton over stock. Also, is premium, high octane fuel a must if managed well. Thanks.

Re:Fuel Mileage Question
Actually.. driving in the city, if not really pushing it - my mileage increased after installing turbo. It's prolly due to earlier shifting now, since car really pulls nice at low rpm (advantages of smaller turbo).

Re:Fuel Mileage Question
stock civics and crx's get anywhere from 35 - 45 mpg some even a little more if its a well set up hf. anyways with an 11 gal tank or so and lets say 35mpg the avg civic mileage.. youd get around 380 miles to the tank or so.

Re:Fuel Mileage Question
Thats not too bad of a loss for a turbo. I have gotten as much as 38 on the road with my dx sedan, but around town it drops to like 26. I dont even hammer on it or anything, you just gotta give it a lot to go at all. No power, hense my need for a turbo. Thanks for your input guys.
