is the flexpipe necessary?
I went to the local autoparts store here for one and they quoted me over $100. I don't remember the exact ammount but I almost ---- myself
I ended up finding some good ones on Ebay for like $25.

so then i decided to hook up my 2 1/2", no cat, flowmaster w/ dual outlets, and bottom end increased dramatically. not touching a damn thing, i was now peaking @ 10 psi and leveling @ 9psi, and my friend said it sounded like a german sportscar.
now this is only going on my experience, yours is prolly different.
to stay on topic, go w/ the flexpipe or ball gaskets!

plus, back pressure owned you
hmm thats werid, it usually works the other way around. Everytime I've ever ran open DP it usually increases spool time.
I also 2nd the open DP, its really not that loud on a honda/acura 4 cylinder.

Backpressure on a turbo is bad. The best exhaust for a turbo is no exhaust. Actually if you could hook up a vacuum cleaner to your exhaust it would be the best.
