Default fitment issues

So I bought a cast iron log style manifold and a 14b turbo a while back figuring that I couldnt possibly have any fitment issues with that setup in my 2000 civic si (b16a2) and sure enough I do. The mani was re-flanged before I bought it and it has about an extra inch of cast iron below the original flange and then the 14b flange. So basically my turbo sits too low and is hitting all kinds of stuff. My main question is whether or not its possible to cut through cast iron and reweld the 14b flange a little higher? Or should I just consider looking for a new mani? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
