first drive with SMC hack
took my civic out tonight to see how this SMC/DSM hack worked out..i also just rebuilt all my charge lines and replaced my old starion intercooler with a new custom Bar&plate one..i thought i would lose some boost and gain some lag moving up to 2.5 charge pipes and an intercooler twice the size..but i didnt lose anything ,boosts just as fast with my old saab t3 (9PSI). i can also actually hear the air building speed now(cool) well after driving it around i am in for a lot of tweeking of this SMC...it would lean out and sputter at a few high rpms so i would take note..pull over and richen that set a bit..its far from perfect..but ill work at it..if its really any better working than my old FMU.map bypass setup..as of now not really, but time will tell..right..

ill have to put some more miles on this before i give my full results..it was easy to hook up, but didnt really come with any thing to set it at..it tried by going what i saw the AFC settings were, but it didnt seem to work exactly for me..ill give it a week of tuning then ill let everyone know if it think its "*** or Pass"

Re:first drive with SMC hack
My first impression....****, but now that I have played with EVERYTHING it's driving very very good. I have 440 RC injectors in my D16 with TD04. At first it wouldn't idle or run a low throttle/rpms very well. I just didn't have the adjustability needed to get it to run. After messing with it for about 3 hours last night I finally turned the base fuel pressure down about 12 psi. Now I have a wider range of adjustability and it's running almost as smooth as stock. A little more tweaking and it will be as close to stock smoothness as you can get with a set of 440's. Just takes PATIENCE and time.

Re:first drive with SMC hack
id go with your response..it definatly will take time to adjust..i also noticed sometimes it will seem adjusted close to right at an rpm, then another it will cut out on it..im starting to wish i just kicked down and bought an AFC..it a pain using a screwdriver to adjust and counting flashes to see what its at.i also mounted mine on a bracket in my glove box since its not very cosmeticly pleasing..basically looks like a radio shack project box with an overlay...if you got yours running close to right..any chance on helping a brother out..and giving me your settings?? ..thanks! as for vacumm to boost most of the time it seems all right for me..but i still need lots of tweakage..

Re:first drive with SMC hack
RazorHatch. What is your set up? Does it idle good?
I'll try to help, but my settings may not work with your set up.
Ignition timing set at 9 degrees BTDC
fuel pressure is 19 psi with vaccum line connected 25 psi with it disconnetced
my injectsors are 440's
the SMC I have has 4 *****. the first one (Idle) is turned just about the width of the scredriver slot to the left of the middle mark. The other three are a little to the right of the halfway mark. Hope this helps. BTW what kind of a/f ratio gauge do you have?
