Finished turbo civic project***Now with epic failure***
5 Attachment(s)
Well, I finally got the car finished and street tuned. It's a 89 civic hatch. B18b1 motor. Car was tuned by Cornbred Tuning out of Indiana. http://www.cornbredtuning.com/ This is my DD so drivability was key. It was tuned at 10lbs. Should just be over 200hp, maybe 225hp.
Here's the turbo: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=94737.0 More pics of the car. Pre-turbo Attachment 15659 Attachment 15660 Now with the turbo Attachment 15661 Attachment 15662 And this one's for stealthmode Attachment 15663 |

Re: Finished turbo civic project
Thanks for the nice comments guys. I would guestimate that it would run a mid to low 13. I don't think it would dip into the 12's yet, maybe after I upgrade the injectors and crank up the boost a bit. 450cc FTL

Re: Finished turbo civic project

Engine bay looks familiar. Very similar setup to mine. Real bov or CDM? What size turbo?

Re: Finished turbo civic project
Real Greddy type s. The link above shows better pics and info on the turbo. It's a Garrett T3/T4 with a .60 ar comp and .82 exhaust housing. Full boost at about 4500rpm.

Re: Finished turbo civic project
Clean and simple. You also have the jdm front.
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project
Yeah, Jdm front, and rear wing. Very subtle difference. Carbon fiber hood paint matched. Stealth. :y

Re: Finished turbo civic project
Nice charge piping... you do that yourself or did it come like that?
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project

Re: Finished turbo civic project

I bought all mild 2.5" bends. Fab them up and had a couple of close friends weld them for me. I suck at welding. |

Sounds cool. I was planning on running higher boost, but was informed that dsm 450's are only good to about 250hp. So, with bigger injectors and another tune, I hope to hit around 275hp. [qoute] so its the same color as like the cobalts and avalanche's? [/qoute] It is the same as the pontiac grand prix's. That may be the same as the cobalt's and Avalanche's. |
Re: Finished turbo civic project
i believe sunburst orange is the color of the cobalts, i work at a dealership and i am not 100% sure
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project
Probably is. I haven't pulled up to one to compare.
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project
either way it looks good ive always wanted an orange car :y
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project
somebody correct me if I'm wrong but 450's should be good till around 300 whp? no?
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project
Maybe on a Mitsu. My tuner said that if pushed above 260hp, they would be maxed out. At least with my turbo. He said I could go safely to 13lbs on these injectors but not much more. I'm at roughly 10lbs.

Re: Finished turbo civic project
Maybe he was being conservative. He knows his ---- though. He's tuned alot of LS's and his personal car is a EK with over 400hp LS motor in it.

Well, i'm back with a update. When I got back from tuning, the tranny took a huge ---- on me. Ground all the teeth off 3rd and broke the bearing off in side the case. I put a spare ls trans in, so it's good again. Then last week, while taking my wife out for her birthday, the timing belt went out. Luckily nothing happened. Belt only had 65k on it. I towed it home and threw another belt on. Good to go. Here's some pics of the tranny.
Attachment 14379 Attachment 14380 Attachment 14381 I finally got around to putting up a couple ripper vids. Short but sweet. http://s172.photobucket.com/albums/w25/89crxsir/Videos/ |
Re: Finished turbo civic project***Ripper vids update***
dude just a heads up my 92 hatch untuned ran 12.2's on a bone stock ls at 13 psi so you will def be in the deep 12's if not high 11's with that tune you have. car is probably about the same weight or lighter then mine.
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project***Ripper vids update***
I does have some serious top-end. Scared the hell out of my wife on the highway the other day. I'd be happy if I could get it into the mid 12's range. Thanks for the comment.

Re: Finished turbo civic project***Ripper vids update***
Nice carnage. Need to get it on the track. And get launch control/flatshift. It's awesome not having to let up to shift.
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project***Ripper vids update***
Probably won't happen till next spring. I need to shorten the traction bars. They came off my rex and were to long. I had two different people weld them up so they're not in the same spot. LOL
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project***Ripper vids update***
Not bad, do you plan to build the motor?
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project
Looks good man!

Re: Finished turbo civic project***Ripper vids update***
Way to boost your crank case.. Fix that.
|
Re: Finished turbo civic project***Ripper vids update***
Yeah I know. I need to hook up my catch can. How many of you guys us the Z10 block plug setups, on your cars? I was looking into buying those. Looks like quality ----.
And to answer your question crxvtec91, I want to keep it stock for now. If it goes, then maybe i'll build it. I'm a broke-ass honky. |
Re: Finished turbo civic project***Ripper vids update***
Daddy like the tranny pics...
Ya, I said it... |
