Default Finished Project, Problems Boosting ('99 Corolla)

So I finished my project today, but I can't seem to boost past 1 or 2 psi. The car feels quicker at partial throttle, but feels stock at full throttle. I disconnected the wastegate line and the charge pipes look ok. There is however a pretty loud exhuast sound coming from the engine bay, as if to say that my custom manifold has leaks. What do you guys think the problem is?

Also, if you put in check valves to relieve pressure in the MAP line, can you still use that line for the boost gauge/FMU? My car doesn't have a stock FMU so I don't know where to tap it, how about the EVAP line?

Thanks,

Dude not to be an *** but that manifold looks like its made from sheet metal? Doesn't look like there is anyway that flange is sealling.

is your wastegate vented to atmosphere? That might be what your hearing.. Does it leak when its not wot? Will it do it just sitting there? You should have a dedicated source for the fmu.

Doesn't the 99 corolla have a returnless fuel system? If so, you're going to have a LOT of trouble getting that to work with an fmu.

todd, the manifold is made from the stock exhaust manifold. it is pretty thin but I used a thick bead of mortar around the gasket so I don't think the leak is where it mates with the head. I disconnected the wastegate line so that's not the problem. It is loud even at idle. It's supposed to be quiet right?

Is the EVAP line ok to tap into for the FMU/boost gauge?

The '99 Corolla has a returnless fuel system, but I'm using an inline pump, which is controlled by a boost referenced digial pump controller.

could be one of your welds leaking, what procedure did you use to weld it?

its probably your external wastegate. When you hit full boost the wastegate flap opens and allows for excess exhuast to flow out the second chamber. you need to fabricate a dumptube or else you will risk burning wires and ---- in your engine bay.

Any line coming directly off of the intake manifold should be fine for tapping for boost/fmu stuff, but don't use the MAP line where you have the check valves, that might not work right.
