You're not going to. Most if not all owners who install them on small motors have surge under 8 psi. And surge is described as the map width being limited on the left by the surge line. This is basically the "stalling" of the air flow at the compressor inlet. With too small a volume of flow and too high a Pr, the flow can no longer adhere to the suction side of the blades, with the result that the discharge process is interrupted. The air flow through the compressor is reversed until a stable pressure ratio with positive volume flow is reached, the pressure builds up again and the cycle repeats. The flow instability continues at a fixed frequuency and the resultant noise is known as "surging". Quite simply, you're dealing with too much turbo and not enough motor.

Yea I figured out that the turbo air flow is too much for the motor, but do I have any option other than changing the turbo it feels so ------- GOOD WHEN IT COMES ON,no wheel spin it just pulls like hell and the transition is so smooth.
Would a second bov help,or just give me so options.or use a hx35 snail(I think that 1 is the same but smaller.

You can go bigger on the exhaust hsg to slow down shaft speed and it will help with the surge, but it will also make boost later in the revs.

Spray a 50 shot to get it spooled, and run 15 psi. That should take care of the surge :6

the nos will cool the charge temps too.

You DON'T understand how excited I am to see this FINALLY!!! Ever since I learned all this stuff I wanted to see someone put a Holset on a D-series. 4000rpm??? I hit full (10.5psi) at 3700rpm on my .42/.48. So should we all learn a lesson and get bigger compressors and smaller exhaust housings? Ported the .48 meaning that the wheel wouldn't fit so you had to make the hole bigger? Doesn't break tires? Full boost 2nd I do, so you should in 3rd too.

WE NEED VIDEOS!!!! :y

what is involved in fitting the Garrett .48 T3 turbine housing on the holset?

congrats on the install. now when you say compressor surge are you talking about it surging under boost or are you talking about it surging after you let off the throttle? if your just talking about it surging after letting off the throttle(which is what I'm thinking your talking about after you mentioned getting a bigger bov?) if this is what your talking about you will need 2 bov's or 1 very large one. holsets flow a huge amount of volume. that turbo is capable of 75lb min of air. the hx35(next size down) flows 53lb/min but has a smaller turbine wheel as well so you would need to machine another housing as well.you could also use the older style hy35w it has the same compressor as the hx35w but has a slightly smaller turbine wheel and comes with a 9cm housing that you could most likely run and have the same spool characterisitcs as the one you have now. I have a hx35w and its an awesome turbo. I also have a he351cw that i'll be running on the drift car once its done. it flows 64lb/min but has a smaller turbine housing than the hx(9cm vs 12cm) or you could look at it as (.65a/r vs .84 a/r) i'm also very curious as to how much work it took you to get the hx to fit into a garrett housing. did you just bore the opening on a mill and it dropped righ in? or did you have to open the side where the chra sits in the turbine housing as well? do you have pictures of just machined housing? i've very curious about this. I'd love to slap my hx into a .63 housing. if you don't wan't to put pics here and wouldn't mind sending them you can send them to provingthemwrong@yahoo.com.

UPDATE!!!NIGGAZ

Hey peeps I solved the surging problem, actually it was just the BOV it wasn't wrkin properly all i did was take it apart cleanup grease it and then reassemble.WRKZ like a charm, now it time to move the stock resonator i think that will create a little back pressure(I have 2 1/2 in exhaust w/stock resonator.
