Filter - Screen - Open Intake What Are you Running? Whats The Best?
Just going to start building all the piping for my crx when the flanges and couplers get here, was deciding on whether or not to make an intake pipe or not. The car is daily driven, zero fenderliner or underbody liner.
Just wonderring what everyone is running, what works the best, what sounds the best.... etc etc
I really dont think i wanna run an intake so Im preally just inbetween squeezing a piece of panty hose/mesh screen behind a custom flange or just running it open. Would the panty hose decrease flow a lot? Curious

I think it depends on conditions where you live.My area there is lots of gravel, dust sand on the roads quite often so I would never run without a proper filter.I had to make a intake pipe on my 90 hatch as the filter would hit the frame rail so i moved the filter to a open area.

i run a piece of screen hose clamped to the turbine inlet.. i have no fender well liner and have driven in the pouring rain before, as long as the turbo doesnt go under water, you be strizzy

using the screen is next to nothing. if you really want that spooling sound then go that way. but think about how fast that turbo spins like 18,000 rpms. at that speed any small piece of sand or dirt could cause damage. but its up to you if you dont care cuz its an old turbo then knock yourself out

The surface area of a screen is very low, and it is a huge flow restriction. The only thing it filters out are large rocks that would own the compressor wheel instantly.
The turbo spins at over 100,000rpm so you're damn right, any particles big enough to see with bare eyes will eat the compressor wheel over time.
