This is true, but I assume you were leaking obscene amounts of pressure past your rings, which would make sense if your oil was low/ leaking.

Plus you can bore out the PCV box

when everything is set up ready to go, unhook the drain from the oil pan. put the house un a pot or bucket or something. you can hold the turbo inlet blades with your finger to stop the turbo from spinnig. let the car idle and run oil through your turbo until u ned a nice steady stream comming out of your drain. that way you know the whole system is oiled

Just get an adjustable ball valve type or drill out a pop rivet and use the small orifice as a restrictor.

Steve at stealthmode threw in a free restrictor with my order, you guys should buy from him!

I agree, since the stock pcv is a one way valve that works with the vacuum from the intake manifold, i decided to ditch the whole PCV system and plugged the hole, ran two fittings to a vented catch can.. I might do the same at the front of the valve cover for a little more insurance.

So should what setting should I start with the restrictor? I was thinking since I have a -4 AN line, I should run it half way open.. what do you guys think??

uhhh I doubt i'd have the ***** to do this.. i like my fingers the way they are

edit: can't I just fill the turbo up with oil and spin it before I hook the feed up? that would oil the turbo good enough, right?

most people dont realize that at idel, alot of turbos donet even spin. if your scared for your fingers than use a pencil. its best to have the car actually runnnig so that way the full oil psi passes throught the turbo and you know its lubed right. rember, oil can pass throufg with out the blades spinning. just because you oil the turbo and spin the blades dosent mena the turbo is fully oiled

then how come you need to do all that on the first start up? it doesn't look like that if everything is cold, it would heat up and sieze before oil got flowing to the turbo. i'd hook everything up and just turn the car on and don't rev the engine. then again, i'm probably going to be using a 100 buck junkyard 14b. with a nice turbo i might go the extra mile and check the flow, but i personally don't see the need.

yeah there's no problem a turbo with no restrictor.

If too much crankcase pressure or bad oil drain or plugged air filter forces oil out of the seals, it won't permanently damage the turbo in the short term. Just fix it (restrictor) before oil cokes up on your turbine wheel throwing the rotating assembly out of balance.
