Fast spooling turbo for Auto-X?
I may be helping someone with an Auto-X setup for a civic hatch. He can't decide if he wants to go D series or B series and which turbo to use.
I figured with a D16Z6 he should go with a 14b or similar sized T25 and with a B18 (LS) he should go with a T3 .42/.48. Anyone see any flaws with this or have any input?

he would be best off with the d16z6 because the d series engines typically produce more tq than b series engine. i'd assume your buddy would have to be in street mod class if he was boosted and its a tough class to be competitive. I would say a 48/42 would be nice for his car you don't want to go too small and choke it on the topend most autox courses require you to stay in the revs pretty high(2nd gear tracks usually) a good intercooler is a must. 3" dp and a tubular manifold would help reduce the lag to keep him in the powerband. but again a 200-230hp civic is going to be a hard car to compete against the other SM cars with. make sure he gets good rubber and a nice suspension tune.

If you want to be competive, you don't want to be in street modified. You will get your *** kicked. You could swap in a gsr motor, quaiffe lsd, gt series bb turbo, and you would still get destroyed in that class.
If you want to do well, keep the car in a class it is competive in. Get the rulebook, read it, go to a few races. If you want to do well, you will keep it in the lowest class possible. Stcok engine. Crazy weight reduction. Pretty much tires and suspension is what you should spend money on. Read the rulebook, there are all kinds of crazy things that will bump you into a higher class...like aftermarket pedals, side skirts, little ---- like that.
You will never finish in the top half of the field in a turbo civic.

Hey drunkindouchebag, calling people a moron, telling me to use a "13b", and quoting people when they talk ---- about the torqueless wonder doesn't help this thread at all. Obviously you don't know ---- on this subject otherwise you would be giving me good advice, so unless you have something to say that pertains to this subject and doesn't end with :1 stay the ---- out of my thread.
