I just got done turbocharging my 96 Accord, and there are several problems. The main one is that the idle is extremely low to the point where it will stall if I don't give it a little gas while stopped. It seems to do this mostly after sensing boost. Anyone know how I can fix this? Is it a fuel problem? I have an FMU, but never had instructions on how to properly install the damn thing...it's a Cartech one. I went by the Vortech instructions for the in and out of the fuel line (If anyone has proper installation instructions for the Cartech one, that'd be cool).

Please help, my car is running really bad right now...

Are you running a missing link or check valves? It could be that the ecu is sensing boost.

Yeah, everyone else is saying it sounds like I'm running rich too. So that's probably it. The Air/Fuel gauge is throwing me off though. Every now and then it lights up the lowest part in the lean zone...only for a few seconds, then it dims...it's saying I'm running extremely lean. The gauge could be installed incorrectly though.

I just drove the car again, not letting it get over 30 mph, or letting the turbo boost. The idle was still low, but not low enough to stall. Whenever it senses boost, the idle turns to crap. I adjusted the bleeder valve on the FMU, to make it push out less. But the problem remains. That may be installed incorrectly, or not working either.

What harm would be done if I took out the FMU altogether to see what if it would run better? I want to get to the bottom of this problem quickly.

I had the same problem, the car would shut off, alot of black smoke out of the tail pipe, thought it was map sensor, but I unpluged the o2 sensor than the car ran fine. don't know if this helps you.

About the O2 sensor...I guess it probably couldn't hurt it too much to try it out.

Don't recall seeing black smoke though...

I do have the missing link installed...but I think it's broken. I pulled it out to check it and when I flipped it upside down, a spring and a white plastic piece fell out. I put it back how it was, and the car is running no different. So the MAP sensor could be messed up as well now.

How does that work removing the o2 sensor? What I am seeing is that will throw the computer in dumb *** mode. So will this put the computer into limp/closed/open? The car is running bad and from following him I can smeel it b rich.

Also, I wanted to mention this: My car is supposed to have two O2 sensors (one before the cat, one after). When I installed the high flow 'cat', it didnt have any place to plug the 2nd sensor into...so I've had that disconnected for a long time.

Would this affect anything for the turbo? The car seemed to run fine without that 2nd sensor when I was N/A.

With that sensor disconnected you must have a check engine light on... right?
