Default Exhaust Leak JB WELD?????????

Hey i have an exhaust leak in between my adapter plate and my turbo, the adapter plate is aluminum and of course the turbo is cast. Will JB weld work to seal the leak or will it get really hot and just melt off If they were both the same type of metal i would weld them but that is not an option. If JB weld wont work what can i do? I cant take the dapater plate off unless i cut the nuts off, cause i welded them on to make sure they didnt come loose.

JB Weld is only good up to 600 degrees. Then it turns into a liquid. Turbo gets hotter than that. As how to fix, get a new adapter plate I guess.

Try using some of this stuff: http://www.redhillgeneralstore.com/A45117.htm
You can get it at Home Depot.

i would ditch that aluminum adapter plate anyway...it's going to melt and blow out.

this is from the tech projects page under adapter plates. are you using gaskets on both sides of the plate?

ya ive found jb weld to get brittle and fall apart, even all the way at the muffler which is way cooler. i guess its more of the exhaust gas than the heat that kills it.

cylinder heads are aluminum... ?

That melted because an extreme case of running lean, egt were probably incredibly high.

i have had no problems with the aluminum melting, i chose aluminum cause it was alot easier to work with and shape. I ended up finding some metal bonder good up to 1360 degrees farenheight, i think it will work really good.
