Is this a normal thing to have happen? It seems when my wastegate fully opens the exhaust makes a couple quick coughing sounds. Also, when I am under a heavy load on the engine in 3rd and 4th, although my engine is full rich on my A/f gauge, what should I be listening for to make sure I am not detonating?

 

you need a stethoscope to listen for detonation properly.
