i went to that website and got prices for rods, pistons, and sleeves. Is there anything else for the block i'll need?? Should i get an aftermarket crank?? Knife edge??

stock cranks are fine...how much power are you looking to make?

as much as possible but still somewhat reliable and streetable. I can be rebuilding motors everymonth ya know!! I am building the car for the car and to cruise around in on weekends.

if the swap costs $3000, block build up $2000, thats $5000. i can turbo it for $1000 so it isnt gonna add up.So Would an LS/Vtec be cheaper?? could i run 12's with out building up a GSR block??

12's are easy if you know what your doing. Between me and my friends we have 4 stock blocked GSR and LS's in the 12's. I would personally reccomend buying an LS motor. $6,000 in motor work is good for a low 11 second run. But again I've seen kids build $4,000 motors and are stuck in the 13's. Money doesn't guarantee a fast car, knowledge and experience does.

You gotta crawl before you walk, if you don't have the experience, I'd say boost a stock motor until your ready for a built motor, cause you might be building yourself an expensive fireworks display.

if you just want 12s, stick with a stock gsr if thats what you want. you will be able to get over 300hp with decent boost

Ok, with using a GSR motor it might be cloes to $6000 (motor $3000, turbo $2500 w/ hondata) that only leaves me with $500 for other stuff and i still need a clutch. So i'm gonna use an LS motor and maybe go ls/vtec one day. But are turbo'd stock ls's capable of 12's??

you many have less than 2 grand into your built motor but i need more than just piston rods and sleeves. I need a whole motor, everything to make it run and transmission. And to top it all off i still need to peice together a turbo and get it dynoed tuned. So if you did all of that for $2000 hook me up!!

He didn't there is no possible way, unless he got ---- work done for him.

I just spent $4.5k on my complete conversion, but I had a professional and reputable comapny build the entire engine. (www.dh-racing.com), and as far as a transmission I got lucky and found a JDM d15b7 w/ LSD on eBay.

What type of motor are you looking to build a DOHC or a SOHC? If you're going SOHC, get the D16Y8 transmission and a LSD kit from like Quaife.

How much power are you looking to put out? My hopes was to get around 400 whp, at about 20 psi - so thats what I had this entire motor built for. My biggest problem is gonna be with the axles (I am trying to set up an order through fast-turbo.com for their axels for this particular application).

Are you gonna be building over time? or do this all at once? If you do it over time then its definitely worth it to spend your money on quality parts, rather then crap. I know this site has alot to do with "Home making" it. But the more I see people doing this, they come back later posting about how the whole attempt failed miserably - so I try to steer clear of it.
