EGT probe location

I have a question. Actually my friend asked me and i'm asking you. Could you mount your egt probe in the same place as the o2 sensor is on the std manifold. And is there a major reason it wouldnt work. If you guys say hell no ill give him a good kick in the nuts and say its from the hmt family and if it is a good idea ill tell him it took me hours of research and testing but yes its a good idea. And no my friends name is not hondalovinfreak.

On Hondas, most people place them 1-2" from the flange on the 3rd runner on the manifold. Why? Because the #3 cylinder is usually the first one to go on a Honda. Your readings will be a bit higher there, but more accurate.

Re:EGT probe location

I always thought it was #4 because it runs leanest. Why #3?

Really? #3 is always the one I hear about. Alot of people do it that way. I didn't bother with it. I just mounted mine about 2" after the turbo on the DP. It wasn't as accurate as I would have liked it to be though. It wouldn't "sweep" like most. I never really looked at it much anyways. :-\

I was thinking bout throwing mine in the DP to not have to deal with drilling the cast HF mani. So yours didnt work well DR? :'(

Re:EGT probe location

It just didn't sweep like it should have, so it didn't give me anything close to a "real-time" reading. I would have rather had it on a runner on the manifold so I would know what the motor was spitting out.

plus, the temps are probably going to be slightly off after the turbo. I guess it doesn't matter that much tho if you aren't comparing it to other cars.

I'm putting mine in the hole in the center of the HF manifold where the 02 sensor originally was. There's already a hole there and it's almost an ideal spot to put it. Might not be 100% accurate but it'll be close enough.

Everyone i've seen on turbo setups are always on the #3 runner.

Re:EGT probe location

if you have an hf manifold you obviously aren't going for a 600hp car so in the standard o2 location should be just dandy.
