Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

I bought Ebay type S BOV for my turbo setup because I got piping with type s flange. Can anyone tell me more about them, if any of you used them. Do they sound the same as real Type S? SHould I use it or buy new real one? ALso I read alot of info on them about 2 springs that are inside. Does the smaller spring need to be removed to make it softer or keep the both springs in? If anyone can help me with some information that would be great. Thanks alot. By the way this will go on B18b with 11psi.

The ebay versions are identical to the real greddy ones, leave the spring in, only take it out if you have to, most people dont.

I had to remove the larger spring and then adjust the bonnet.

Yea, i heard 2 springs make it too stiff, so they usually remove one to make it softer. What about that RFL bov?

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

I have Type S, type rs is different. Hows that bov working for you?

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

internally I believe they are similar, just that the rs costs a little more and looks all "shnazzy". I tried with one spring out and it was too soft so I put it back in.

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

actually I had both in my hands. the greddy and ebay knock off and they are almost identical. the only major differences is the diaphram on the knock off is much thinner which may lead to a sooner failure but for $20 bucks you cant go wrong. the knockoff actually seemed to blow off better vs the greddy. had to max the spring out on the greddy for it to work right compared to the knockoff.

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

what do you mean by maxing out the spring?

ifly87 10-25-2006 12:20 PM

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

prolly means turning that screw in most of the way in.

Integra94 10-25-2006 12:28 PM

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

Or could be all the way out

hyper4mance2k 10-26-2006 02:58 AM

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

turning the screw makes the spring tighter and the BOV open less often. I left both my springs in and have the screw half way out and 15'k later it's damn good and so loud it hurts your ears if the hood is up.

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

do it right the first time and buy one that you know will work fine.

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

Its a ------- blow off valve. You can't screw it up. The chinese ---- works fine. I run the Ebay chinese RFL and it works great.

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

I heard they sound similar, but in the long run Greddy are more worth it. The knock-offs use way cheaper materials.

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

You want the loudest, most obnoxious bov there is, get the RFL. My friend has one on his 93 civic b18/t4 @ 18psi...sounds like someone disconnected an air tool right next to your ear :S

Re: Ebay Greddy Type S style bov

I am using a Greddy "Style" Ebay knockoff. Like said a million times its a BOV and there isnt much to screw up. Works fine, sounds like a BOV.
