Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
Bad news is that I did not have enough fuel pump capacity to even make it thru a complete dyno run. I will add an inline pump to solve that. So my dyno run ended at 3300 rpm. Still it made some nice torque (480 ft-lb) and hp (310-remember this has a good bit of rev range to go!). I had putting that fuel pump in on my "to do list" but never did it. But proof of concept is there. Once the fuel situation is cleared up, it should make pretty good power.

Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
what size are the IHI's and are you running an FMU??
either way thats some monster TQ :o |
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
what boost was that? are you using maf and injectors?
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
IHIs are the RHB5s from turbo coupes.
I'm running a procharger FMU, 19# injectors and stock maf The gauge reads around 10 psi at full boost Erich |
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
damn dude bad ass
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
i the sway bar still there and what size oil line u have
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
Not sure how you saw the sway bar but it is there. It is a 4 cyl sway bar but I put poly bushings on it. I put a GT sway bar on the back. Oil feed lines are 3/16s. Returns -10 AN.

Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
sorry for the ignorance. What engine is that?
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
5 liter Ford.

Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
the engine bay looks so creepy. i love it. congrats man O0

Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
cool thanks damn dude i need a intercooler i get my auto tech teacher to help me with all the welding so
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
Nice torque :o jeesh.. stock internals too?
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
Stockish internals. The longblock is an "econolong block" from central coast mustang. It has stock crank, stock cam, stock type rods with arp bolts, Probe forged pistons (most years stock 5.0s have forged pistons), GT40P heads (explorer heads).
What in particular is creepy about the engine bay? Tubes and wires running all over the place? It is kind of ------ around. It all looked much nicer before I put all the accessories and vacuum tubing on. Erich |

Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
those heads help ya a lot with the power output. i heard they have problems with blowing gaskets at high boost though
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
dude the stock ones blow to
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
how was the drive there and how long was it
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
No check engine lights at all. Except when I forgot to hook up the MAF (or other tiny details).
I was hoping that the GT40P heads would work well. They are supposed to flow as well as standard GT40 heads but do so with SMALLER valves. This implies that the exhaust velocity should be nice and high which should work well with turbos. I hope I don't blow headgaskets. I am running the graphite ford ones. If they blow, I will switch to those cometic MLS ones. The drive up to Kauffmans for the dyno run took like an hour or so. This car drives like a stocker until you get on it. Zero drivability problems. One funny thing tho: It is such a sleeper and so quiet that it confused some people there. We came out of the dyno room and someone asked the tuner why they hadn't run the car. He said "we just did two runs". The car is quieter than stock. The other thing was they put this huge fan on the car then all put on ear protection. I told them that their fan was louder than the car. And it was. Erich |

Erich word of caution about the MLS gaskets, with those bad boys you made the pistons the weak spot rather than the headgaskets ;) i cant wait till i get me a new maf and some big injectors. mine drive around really nice and stockish and decent with 5.5psi i guess :) |
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news

Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
cool did u get your parts installed
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
I did not even get my parts let alone install them.
Yeah, much better to blow a headgasket than break a piston. Hopefully I won't do either. It is nice and loud with open down pipes. You can hear the turbos all the time-like a real badass racecar. Erich |
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
I don't think the 19's are gonna keep up!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
any plans to move onto better fuel managment? So far it looks like a kickass setup though :)
|
Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
Plan is in progress: 36# injectors, pro M MAF calibrated for 36# injectors (both ordered) and an additional fuel pump (waiting to be installed). Then, back to the dyno.

Re: Dynoed the Twin Turbo Notch: bad news and good news
