Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.

Went over to Xenocron's shop today and got tuned. He spent a bunch of time to get the car right, and it feels great now. ------- thing rips. This is my 3rd tune with him. No complaints. Setup is... Y7 head stock with Aem gear. Z6 block with Eagles and Vitaras. 75mm. Hone by yours truly. Z6 intake mani and TB. No porting at all. 550cc rx7 inj's. 3 inch DP, no exhaust Holset H1C. Full boost set at 23 psi. Doesnt get there till very late. I call it traction control >=) Ebay 12x3x11 core fmic. Homemade charge pipes. (Probably my limiting factor, 1 very sharp bend on hot side and smallish 2 inch bov pipe) Anti-Lag building anywhere between 8-13 psi (Flames kick ass Chris ! Thanks) Holley 255 lph pump. SSauto exhaust mani, welded a couple times. 38mm WG with small and large spring and a MBC (Thanks Chris) GM 3 bar map. 90 STD Hatch Gutted and cold inside, no heat. Pretty sure thats everything thats important. Say what you want about the #'s. I thought they were low too. But this thing on the street is ridiculous. Breaks tires in 3rd gear on demand and pulls through 4th like my 2nd gear used to haha. In my defense Chris said my alignment/tires were fighting the rollers on the dyno and losing some power there. The wheels couldnt find a happy place and would pull all around. And I believe it because on the street it feels like more than 280 whp. Flame away, but Ill most likely smoke your ass haha. |
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
good ---- man
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Nice numbers man! Did you guys mess with the cam gear at all?
I'm hoping to get that much hp out of my winter Y8 build. |
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Not bad Joe, did you ended up doing anything with the head? BTW why not just throw a z6 head on it?
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Yea we did play with the cam gear. We ended up setting it at 0 because the dizzy was fully advanced for whatever reason.
Im pretty sure its the wrong gear for the head im using, but it works. Head is stock, I like to stay away from the vtec heads. If I do end up doing something it will be a huge port y7 head with a regrind. |
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
looks like some good numbers. is the z6 block stock no sleeves/filler? just rods/pistons?
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Yep just rods pistons. I dont like to overdue anything.
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
then those are really great numbers then. how long do you think it will last? im getting ready to start the d16y7 block i have, im also gonna try to get a regrind on the d16y7 heads cam.
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Haha hopefully a long time, thats the point of getting tuned.
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
I can't wait to see the new numbers, when you take it to the track. Are you going to put a LSD in it?
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
not bad. 23psi seems a lot for that much power. :-\
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
No lsd. Too much money. Ill go welded diff be4 lsd. Even though its unsafe lol.
Yea, thanks ::) |
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
what style honda is this in once again? maybe a spool is what you need.
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
90 Hatch.
I think Ill do fine with open diff. My best 60 is 1.701. The real power doesnt come on till im deep in 2nd gear anyway. |
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
yeah i dont think they make a spool for our ef's trans. we'd have to get a hydro to do it with a cable conversion kit. though, i have a 4 speed and to low of a rev limiter to see what i can do. 6200 is to low of a limiter on a stock motor....though i plan to have mine turbo first week when the weather breaks.
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Number are deceiving. Comes down to the driver and the power to weight ratio just puts the cherry on the top. Mad props to Joe. Now get this thing to a track to see what damage it can do. >:D
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Word up Yo ! Thanks Henry, im gonna get it to the track while its still cold out. Hopefully mebruary or march if theres no snow.
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Boost-a-licious!
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
You somehow always know what to say.
BTW your name came up while at Chris' shop today. He had only good things to say about you JD. |
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
I dont think the #'s are low. Alot of the vitara dyno's with stock heads/manifolds/throttle bodies making over 400 whp made me question them alot just seemed way to high for what they were. Good job. Slap one of my throttle bodies on there :)
|
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Chris I plan to pick one up from you. After the holidays.
Gonna go with the blox IM and prob port it to all hell along with the Y7 head. Thanks for the good words guys. Ill try and get some vids up soon. |
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.

Ya the blox manifold has a 62mm inlet stock so be sure to bust out the grinder. I wouldnt be surprised to see around 25 hp+gains with just the switch in manifold/tb. That stock 55mm d series throttle body sucks |
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Before I do that I need to fix a couple things in my charge piping. Im sure Id see a gain just from that.
Secondly I have a 68mm outside 64 inside mm oem honda TB at work. Debating on using it or just going with aftermarket. Id really like to see what the car runs as is. And go from there more than anything. |

Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Ill get pics with an outside micrometer on it.
Im pretty sure its from an 06 Odyssey. BTW Im a tech at Honda. |

Im pretty sure its from an 06 Odyssey. BTW Im a tech at Honda. Does it have a the right bolt pattern. Tps will be way different has well I would assume . I believe Joseph Davis talked about those beofre but he just used the throttle plate and it machined to fit a newer b series throttle. |
Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
I test fitted it onto a y8 mani.
Ill prob end up not using it anyway lol. |

Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.

Re: Dyno: Eagle/Vitara Y7.
Chris makes it easy. He talks, lets you know whats going on. Good guy in general.
BAK I want 10.99 more than anything, but Ill settle for low 11's and make a couple more mods from there if needed. Joe sounds good for friday =) |
