drove the car hard for about 15-20 minutes, maybe overheating?.....
I went for a short drive around town and did around 6 wide open throttle runs til I was doing 80 mph then I would slow down. Cruised at legit speed after each run for maybe a minute or two. When I turned into my block I noticed the temperature gauge slowly rising from just below the midle to between the middle and all the to the top almost reaching 3/4 of the temp gauge while moving higher. Then while I was rolling slowly (speed bumps-community) it moved back to just a notch below halfway. Is this normal?
Seemed kina weird I've never noticed this before. |

Re:drove the car hard for about 15-20 minutes, maybe overheating?.....
It's a little normal for your car to do that since it is running at a slightly higher temp. Good thing the temp came back down to normal level. Still take that fags advice and check your coolant etc. 8)

Yeah that happened to me once. After the install, where I lost a lot of coolant when I pulled the lines off, I forgot to fill it back up.

Hey El Leprechaun,
I know you're new and all, but I would highly recommend you don't bash the regulars on this board. Please keep your comments to yourself. We aren't discouraging you from being a member of HMT.. All I'm saying is knock the ---- off with you bashing our full time members before everyone comes in and flames you out. ----, leave the bullshit to General Discussion.. I don't play that game in here. I'll leave your posts up for a day so you can see what's up, then I'll delete them. |
Re:drove the car hard for about 15-20 minutes, maybe overheating?.....
That has never happened to me :). To prevent anything like this from happening, I bought a bottle of Red Line Water Wetter and pour it into the radiator. They claim it improves the cooling capabilities of the water/coolant, and it will lower the engine temperature by about 25 to 30 degrees 8). Just ask any auto store in your area. Cost about $6 to $7. Just follow the instructions on the bottle ;).

Re:drove the car hard for about 15-20 minutes, maybe overheating?.....
Just ordered je pistons, eagle rods, skunk2 cams and bock guard. Hope it don't blow before these go in. Boostin 16psi when I get these parts installed. I had air bubbles in my cooling system, I didn't vent it after I disconnected the coolant line from the throttle body so problem solved. ;D Thanks for everyones help. I don't mean to have posted so many times in the last week quadnie, I just want to learn all I can since my car got boost now. ;D
