downpipe

well i plan on gettin a new turbo manifold for my turbo do you think its worth upgrading my downpipe from a 2 1/2 inch to 3 inch or should i just cut and weld my 2 1/2 to fit the new postion of the turbo. Some people say yes some say no i cant decide. My idea was to custom the 2 1/2 and weld in a electric cut out before my cat >:D

Re: downpipe

the cut out sounds like a pretty good idea, but if not using the cutout i would grab the 3 inch ;)

Re: downpipe

I'd stick with 2.5 unless you went with a different turbo as well and are lookin for some big power.

Re: downpipe

Yeah what are your power goals?

I would say definetely upgrade to a 3" if your running open downpipe and want more than 225whp

Keep the 2.5" if you have a 2.5" exhaust, want under or around 225 whp, are lazy

If youre gonna be under there and with everything cut and apart anyways, wont be much more work to upgrade, I would if you had the cash

hey thanks guy yea i have a 2 1/2 inch full exhaust on a drag turbo kit btu i plan on upgrading the exhaust manifold but i was hoping for 225 to the wheels on a stock engine but i think i gunna build my bottom end this winter and then shot for about 350 maybe 400 depending on my turbo right nwo im happy with it but if what i got doesnt reach my goal im gunna switch to a gt35 or something around those lines drag said the turbo would go to about 400 hp but im still nto sure of it

o. I guess reading owns me on this one. you'll need a better manifold for 400 hp though. I'm assuming you are using the cast rav hard log.

Re: downpipe

2.5 inch exhaust isn't restrictive on 225hp, now if your shooting for 400 you will need 3inch ;)

Re: downpipe

at least now i know i should stick with 2.5 for my setup then, the t25 cant push much anyways, im gonna try to squeeze out 200 on the stock block, but im trying to at least get arp studs with a decent gasket sandwiched in between, that ain't happening till next year till i get the wideband tho, i never hated x-mas shopping so much it's killing me! :( cant wait to boost 10psi

Re: downpipe

hey thanks guys yea im gunna see how the new manifold meets to the downpipe and then go from there i might just switch to a different downpipe and manifold setup and no problem b16crx. but we will see i would really really like to build my bottem end this winter. hoping to have about 350 to the wheels for next summer
