what is the easiest way to make a downpipe? would it be bad to use flexible exhaust piping to join the downpipe to my exhaust? j/w

 

some peopel don't use downpipe so don't get one or go to local shop they can make them from mandrel or aluminum

 

i actually have a welder, im just lazy and cheap. . there is a shop about 3 blocks from my house, i was thinking about driving it down to the shop with no downpipe and having them weld up something. another option i have is having my buddy that has a 9 second street driven nova make me a flange (he works at a machine shop) and help me weld up the downpipe...i think that would be the best option.

i have another question, i saw some do it yourself kits that route the exhaust from the wastegate back into the downpipe, is this necessary? can i just have it go into the engine compartment?

 

I am going to be making my downpipe for my 14b here in the next couple days. I plan on running a 2 inch 90deg bend out of the wastgate hole and dumping it staight down to the ground. Last time I made one plumbing the wastgate back into the 2.5in exhaust was a pain. Ive never personally heard an open wastgate dump but I figure if Im at full boost i wont be worried about my exhaust being to loud.
