Default dont plan on going past 9psi, do i still need a 2.5 bar map

debating weather i ll be wasting money buying a 2.5 bar map sensor. right now my car is running 6 psi but i think i am gonna run 9 max once i get my injectors and what not. if i understand correctly the stock 1 bar map can handle about 14.1 psi or whatever equals 1 bar. any other tunning advantages having the higher bar map?

kinda related, someone stole my rc 550 injectors so right now i am running on stock injectors. but i do have a set of rc 370cc injectors. will these run decent on 9 psi. i am trying to get some dsm 450s but i am gonna run the 370s for now. at least the 370's will be better than the stock 290's

i found this answer on turbod16.com

"Stock maps run to 15 psi, but that's absolute pressure, where 14.7 = 0 as we talk about boost pressure. therefore the stock maps are defined to 0.3 lbs boost. (Atmospheric pressure at sea level is 14.7 psi.)

The stock map sensor runs to 1.7 bar, or 1*14.7 + 0.7*14.7, roughly 10.3 psi above atmospheric (25 psi absolute), so that means you can tune up to 10 lbs of boost before you have to change map sensors. 10 psi generally gets you close to 200 whp, which might be a better target for reliability and simplicity."

my stock map sensor on my ED 90 civic would not read past 8.67psi.

it made running 15 pounds fun and exciting. stick with stock.

stock map sensor is good to 11psi, technically speaking. you can run more but you have to tune the last column to whatever amount youre running. for example if you run 13psi, you tune the last column for 13 psi because the ecu thinks its only seeing 11psi.

stock injectors are 240cc, not 290. i would imagine 370's would be fine for 200 HP considering 450's are good for 300ish

haha I think I wrote that over there...

One advantage of having a higher map sensor is so you can tune out to higher psi in case of boost spikes. Another trick would be to tune to 11 psi, then have the last column at 11.2 (the limit of the map sensor) and make all the fuel vals super rich and timing vals fully retarded to prevent engine damage. If you go above the map sensor limit it will still read as 11.2 psi, even if you are at 20.

yeah, ill just stop being cheap and order the 2.5 motorola from xenocron. my motor is pretty much stock and dident want to blow it with too much boost.

I invested in a hdata 4 bar! Excellent choice, its a pliug and play, no wiring problems, and its compatible with d and b series. $130 alittle pricey but well worth it.

ive ran my stock map to 13psi, i have a msd 2 bar i got for free a long time ago, but i dont know how to get that to run right. (havent tried though either). i think it would be the same as a gm 2bar

Don't play too much over the map sensor limit. There are more chances to brake your ---- than to run good.

If you have a boost peak for any reason, you are already over the map sensor limit and you didn't enable the boost cut: you will not be happy with the result :P

Anyway, 9psi is just fine
