Goddamn dude. I will admit, I'm 19 and in school for automotive stuff and honestly don't know how to put together a motor, and don't know alot of the common theories behind it etc. But, it's already been said... If you use your stock ZC rods, it's going to be low. That's why people recommended you looking into getting longer rods to raise the CR back up some to accomodate your "must have" CR of whatever the ---- you said you wanted... Now ------- READ (that's how I derived this post, was reading... not knowing every aspect of how to get what I want out of a motor like these educated guys do) and do as you were told. Or you're not going to get anymore ------- help from these people... or anyone else in life.
GET SOME LONGER RODS YOU FUCKBAG

A ZC ROD IS IDENTICLE TO ANYOTHER D16 ROD no difference all have the same deck height same wrist pin everything no different.. they make longer rods for D's to accomdate low piston pin heights ect... just use your vitara's and any D rod deal with the compression you will have and up the boost.. this is no rocket science involved here like your trying to make it seem..

YOU DONT WANT 7:1 COMPRESSION BUY WEISCO'S OR ROLLER WAVES.. END OF STORY

ok i was told before not to use vitara's b/c my compression would be too low now your telling me to use vitaras

well you only have limited options for the zc.. if you ordered pistons from FJT then thats what you will be stuck with as they are vitara pistons.. buy weisco's or roller waves get a set of eagles or TT rods and have at it.. you CAN NOT just use any D16 pistons because advertised compression will be different as the ZC combustion chamber is the biggest of all D's.. you must get a piston specifically designed for the ZC motor for there compression #'s to be correct..

Well..here's my 2 cent.. take it for what its worth.

I wouldnt spend 450 dollars on wisecos when for less than that you can have Custom length Forged rods and vitaras with rings.. Sure, even with the longer rods the CR will still be at 7.43:1 on the ZC (with a Y8 2 layer HG) but thats exactly the CR that guys right now run with Vitaras and Eagle rods on their D16 engines..YET they have gotten 400+whp.. i wouldnt spend $400+ on any forged piston when youre just wanting 300-350 whp

I ran that low of CR on my Y7..(Vitaras + eagles on a Y7 is around 7.4:1 CR) and to tell you the truth i dod not feel any difference in driveability out of boost VS the stock CR pistons.. I even raced my car ALL motor with vitaras on it before turboing and guess what?...My car ran faster times all motor with vitaras than with the stock higher CR pistons.

Sure the CR will be low but you can compensate with boost.. You will have a larger margin of error with lower CR, less chance of detonation, a wider range of using the car with Pump gas instead of race gas...think of all that..

I have friends that have ran the vitaras on the ZC and stock rods and the cars have ran fine..they have fun at the street and at the track..sure the cars are not beasts but thy also run small turbos..

i went with the race engineering ones made by wiseco. even with a zc, you still weild a 9:1 ratio. remember, with a d16a1 or dohc zc, your compression points will be 1 full point lower that if you put the pistons in a regular d

you have to use a ZC specific piston and any D rod...
