does a boosted engine or the turbo itself burn oil?
I put in 4 1/4 quarts last saturday after instal and had to add 1/2 a quart just now.

If the seals on the turbo are bad it could possibly burn some and Most of my freinds have added about 5 quarts to compensate for the oil going thru the turbo.

Yes, they both do depending on condition.

Well let's take a factory turbocharged motor, brand new, off the showroom floor. No, they don't go thru any oil when they are brand new.

Now let's take a kit that was pieced together by someone who is not an automotive engineer (all of us). Placed on a higher milage car not designed for boost.

Expect little leaks here and there man, gasket leaks, fitting leaks. If you didn't use a new turbo, possible for small seal leaks. Too much boost could also complicate problems. Is your PCV system in check?

I've never replaced the pcv valve and the engine has 65k miles.

Yeah replacing the pcv or cleaning it with some brake cleaner couldnt hurt.
