Does 3-5 PSI need BOV ?
Hello,
I'm getting my turbo setup next week (waiting for work to be finished on custom parts). the turbo is going to be Install on a 1998 b18b1.
My question is do I need a BOV for 3-5 PSI?
I'm going a use a safc to add more fuel.
Do I need a air/fuel gauge to set my air/fuel mixure?,
will the car knock if i'm running too lean?
Anything else that i should know before running 3-5psi?
thanks for your time.

Uhm, the SAFC has an a/f gauge, as well as a boost gauge built in. A lot of other fancy light show gauges as well.
As for the BOV? I would.. Keep your turbo for cooking destroying itself. Any amoutn of pressure that back builds on your turbo i sbad.

agreed, I would run a blow off valve, but you DONT HAVE TOO. if you cant find one, or cannot afford one right now the setup will work without one.
"will the car knock if i'm running too lean? "
under a load in a tall gear listen carefully and you will here the engine "Ping/knock" ever so slightly.. this is detonation.

bov, well you dont really need it, but ive seen people waiting to get a bov and taking out their fresh turbo for a few joy rides and comming back with a totally wrecked turbo.
what is your wastegate set at for stock boost? and is it an internal gate. cause i dont think ive ever heard of a gate set as low as 3psi?

Get one later if you can't get on right now, its worth the little bit of work and money. Your turbo will be OK, as long as you don't let the throttle plate slap shut, or let off the gas REALLY fast. Buick grand national don't run BOVs..
