Yes they did.It eventually evolved into the Plymouth Laser and then into the Eagle Talon.

This is off topic but the Dodge Lancer is comming back. In a couple years the Dodge Neon will become the Lancer. It'll be like the Stealth/3000gt or Eclipse/Talon

that is rediculous, the SRT-4 and the EVO 8 are (at least in southern california) competitors, i don't know why they would do that.

and did the OG dodge lancer have anything to do with earlier LanEVO models?

the sr4-t and evo competitors, HA, not even close, maybe just for some dumb asses. about the only thing they have in common is the fact that they both come in yellow. i love when people say they have a "sr4-t", then i say "you mean you have a neon"

No they had nothing in common.Mitsubishi and Chrysler have all ways made boadys/motors for each other since I can rememder.The old dodge rams(the small ones) was the same thing as the Mitsubishi Mighty Max.The Dodge colt was made by Mitsubishi.The Talon of course was just an Eclipse with minor boaby styling changes and there are others that I cant think of now couse I just woke up.....But the Evo,no I dont think that will ever get a chrysler badge!....well maybe :o

What mitsu called Mirage for the USDM, is what they called Lancer for the JDM. The dodge Lancer has never been or have anything to do with the Mitsu Lancer. Now dodge/eagle did make a copy of the Mirage just like the eclipse/talon deal, but they where never sports car in the USDM.


I don't really think the neon will become anything but a neon, they might bring some type of dodge performance car but think about it, why would Mitsubishi let them copy there best car, why would they need that competition. The SRT-4 is a nice car, my brother in law has one and on his first run at the track he ran a 13.8 completely stock, they have a lot of potential, but with that said, they are still neons, but for 19,000 is not a bad deal.

I think Dodge is trying to get rid of the Neon name and bad reputation. Like it or not the two are going to merge together...Domestic rice ------s again :'(

It wouldnt be competition.And they wouldnt be copying the car,It would still be a Mitsu. but the only difference would be the badge and maybe some Mopar stickers or some gay ---- like that.The Dodge Stealth was the 3000gt.If it wasnt worth it for Mitsubishi they wouldnt put a gay Chrysler badge on it.They make money eather way couse of copyright/patent laws.So they basically sell the car to Chrysler and frome there they can do what ever they want.Just like the rice boys that turn Civics into
Lexus IS 300s.Once you buy the car you can do what ever you want!

does anybody remember the Plymouth Arrow? it was the predecessor to the much loved Dodge Conquest/Mitsubishi Starion. it was a front engine, rear wheel drive hatchback with a mitsubishi 2.6L carbed engine..That was my first car ever, and a blast to drive.

Import/Domesic alliances have been going on since the Mid eighties.

There are Mitsubishi cars that use Dodge motors and vice-versa.

GM/Toyota/Isuzu -

Ford/Mazda

And FYI My 99 DOHC neon ran 15.9 stock at 84mph Fresh off of the Thrifty rent-a-car lot. ::)

IT's sweet having an under rated car - you should know that!

currently 13.98 @ 95mph 6psi(w/a few other mods 8)) no intercooler with a sweet 2.4 60ft :o - on street tires of course!

Keep talking the 30K neon is coming... 300Whp from the factory.

BTW Benz had a lot to do with the SRT and we all know how crappy there cars are...

If the $21K 215hp SRT runs 13.8 with a good driver ( numbers via motor-trend ) then what do you think the 300hp one is going to do to EVO ?? Imagine an SRT vs a EVO from a 30mph roll, the EVO would be very supprised..

One more thing...
Evo8 = 19psi with TD05HB16G
SRT = 14.5 psi with TD05HB16G

The SRT is almost totally different than a regular neon. I hated ALL neons before, but this one is different ( like how I hate ford, but love the new S/C cobra ).

The new dodge cross-fire is TOTALLY a benz SLK, minus the body panals...

Yeah but have you seen that gay ass turbo/mannifold combo on the neon?Its all in one so you cant upgrade the turbo withought changing out the manni.The Neon is still a Neon no matter what they change the name to or no matter how much horsepower they try to put into it.Looks like chrysler figured out thats the only way that ugly ass car would sell!
I would get a Corolla before I got a Neon.Why?couse Neons says......HI! Bahahahaha :D

Your right about the Cross-fire. It only runs low 15s ( faster than than every sport compact under $30K still ), but for the money it is a dog, but you also gotta note that it handles better than a new vette.

Did I meantion that the neon comes standard with a 7 year warrenty ??

I hated the neons of the past, but do some reseach and you'll find out it a well built machine or race one.. The old neons where EXTREMLY CRAPPY, and and everything in them would break like it was a Kia or something. I've also hated Dodge for ever ( the 360ci. 5.9L mid-sized Dakota R/T couldn't beat a stock civic ), but its fast and reliable now. If it runs high 13's now, what's gotta happen when a few crazy mofos get one and make 500whp on the stock block ( better than the 4G63 ) ???
