diesel turbos?

Re:diesel turbos?
it is in a 68 camaro.. 96 LT1 350 with a cam and that's about it...
Flanges look like standard T4, like I said, the turbos look to be the same general size as a T4, but have tiny wheels.. probably sized for the diesel exhaust flow...

Re:diesel turbos?
Thats probly the culprit.. They were probubly setup to create a moderate amount of boost on an engine with a tone of exhaust.. your stating that the turbine are tiny and not the compressor right? Why not keep your t4 compressor and use t3 turbine "t3/t4 hybrid" style..

Re:diesel turbos?
Is there any A/R numbers on the exaust sice of the housings. Garrett turbos rate the size in A/R, the larger the number the biger the turbo. The 3.0 V6 in the 300 ZX uses .63 A/R exaust housings, two of this size should be right for your 5.7. Diesels usualy use larger A/Rs like .82 or bigger. You didnt say if the diesel truck was twin turbo, or are you are using two turboes from two diferent trucks?

The GM 6.5 uses one turbo per engine... guess it is just waaayyy too big!
Back to the drawing board!

Re:diesel turbos?
So they just dont simply spool at all? Are you postive the wastegates are staying shut under a load? I cant believe they dont even spool up at all.
How many RPM's are you spining your motor?
btw, I like your setup,
Jeff

Re:diesel turbos?
If the 6.5 uses one turbo and you are using two on a 5.7 then in my opinion you won`t see boost until about 10,000 RPM.If you are looking for inexpensive replacements I would recomend the Garrett TBO 344(oil and water cooled) or the TBO 322(oil cooled)These are used on the Ford turbo T birds, they have .60 AR compressors and .48 AR exhaust turbines. One of these is good for engines up to 3.0L so two should feed your 5.7 with very little turbo lagg and no problems. I have personally run this turbo on lots of engines with great results, including a 3.1L V6 Grand Prix runing 20PSI of boost(no it didn`t last long, this is a weak motor). You can usualy find them on E bay cheap but stay away from used ones, the exhaust housings crack making it tough to find a good used unit.If you do find good used units that are not cracked but need rebuilding I can do it for you for $200.00 including balancing(this is a must for turbo life).
