Re:Detonation Issues

im not so sure this is a Plug problem. This actually sounds alot like a problem with lack of octane. Do you have carbon buildup or oil leaking into the intake air ? theres alot of things that can cuase knock

1 oil in the charge pipes
2 To much spark advance
3 ack of octane
4 increidably high charge temps
5 high compresion ratio vs amount of boost.
6 crbon buildup or hot spots int eh combustion chambers ( try cleaning the engine with a bit of water from a windex spray bottle. ) it will remove any carbon big enogh to create a hot spots

thats what i think would cuase it. The only thing cold plugs do is create a fouling problem.

The autolites have screw-on conductors (top part), apparently to save money. I got a set once, and one of them was missing the conductor. Yeah, that is quality control for you ::)

no I don't, I buy the 5 quarts for $5, I wish I could find some good 88 cent stuff. but the autolites are for serious doing good. Graham, you should try that spraying water in trick, it is the cheapest, and you heard it from me: kyle the cheapass.

actually, the only reason I'm using that cheap ass oil is because I was going to change it the day after I put it in so that I could get out the oil water mix that occured from bad block to head seal, but I never did change my oil. Oh well, the head and block still aren't sealed, coolant gets into my cylinders and goes out the tail pipe and rusts out my muffler and makes it hang so that I get to use a hanger to hold it up, yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111one.

Re:Detonation Issues

I put some different plugs in and it helped for the most part... however, I think I've got some carbon buildup in there... 205 compression in each cylinder. The last time I put water INside the engine I sucked it through a vac hose but it drank too much and almost hydrolocked (turned off and couldn't get it to start). I'm pretty sure my starion FMIC is doing a fine job for 7-9 lbs of boost.
