D17A1 turbocharged... ODB II problems...?
Hey dudes..
I'm planning on turbocharging a D17A1 engine and I've gone through some speedbumps.. I've been told by some people that the ODB-II computer will not like the turbo and the check engine light may come on constantly as a result of adding a turbocharger.
What is the guaranteed way I can make a turbocharger with for my car. I will aquire a compressor (internal wastegate), intercooler, blowoff valve, and a bunch of plumbing from a source.. as I am not purchasing a package. I need to know now I can make sure this is successful.
Is there a company out there that reprograms my ECU to understand that there is nothing wrong with my engine and that there is added boost? Cuz I heard ODB-II will give me some problems.. because of the super tight emission standards in the D17A1.
Please help!

Thanks for the reply!
So if I boost the engine say.. 6 or 7 PSI... I should be fine with the ODB-II...? The check engine light should not come on? (even tho I'm giving it much more fuel and much more air?)
Should the D17A1 block be able to handle 6 or 7 PSI or should I have it sleeved to be certain?

1 more question
Will the ECU understand that there's more air going into the engine and increase fuel respectively or will I have to modify something to have the ECU understand that? (6 or 7 psi on a D17A1)

Re:D17A1 turbocharged... ODB II problems...?
go the hack route unless you plan on super high fuel pressures and no way to control fuel based on rpm. the only problem you will see with the hack is a cel for the baro sensor if done right. it doesn't affect fueling or timing at all. i've been running the hack on my obd2 for over 6k miles so far and i boost every chance i get.

Re:D17A1 turbocharged... ODB II problems...?
just make sure fuel is there to match the extra air...a guy I work with blew up his D17 on only 4psi of boost from a T3. But that was because he was an idiot. and you're not an idiot if you're here...seriously just be REAL patient and don't just slap a turbo on and go. good luck.
