Turbo whichever one you can get cheaper. |
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
The D15B....it's just cool to say it's mad jDm. 8)
|
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
seriously, if i had a K20 i wouldnt even think turbo maybe sqeeze a lil nitrious to it, so the D15b would be better to turbo instead of the D16z6.
what forged internals could i used for the D15b? |
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
i found pistons for the d15b but is there any rods for it?
|
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
d15b vtec?
get some D16 rods. What's your budget? cheapest route: D16A1 Rods LS Rods machined/rebushed D16 Ebay / Tuner Toys Rods |
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
if i used D16 rods, dont they stick up higher that the stock rod?
|
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
the d15b vtec has a different crank and uses d16 rods.
|

and d15b=z6 rods sucka |
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
So is that on all D15's, all the d15 use d16 rods just different cranks?
|

it's a great motor. |
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
to get the best result put the d15b vtec head in d16z6 block that is the d15b head is an agrissive cam
|

instead of swapping out the cam. :'( |
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
you're positive that the d15b cam is more aggressive? I'm sure Bone will chime in.

Re: d16z6 vs d15b
from expeience of 3 trys.. the d15b is a ------ pos torqueless wonder and wayyy ------- overrated its ------ ass and like a ------ .9liter metro motor until you get to vtec. to ask between a d15b and a d16z6 would be like me asking you... would you rather a b16 or a b18c1 ? yeah its not that extreme but still... also those "hp/tq" numbers of the d15b you see it rated as is rated on the dual stage vtec version of the motor but no wheres will tell you about it til you call and bitch about their false advertisement of numbers. although if your just gonna build it then who cares.
short version: d15b is as over rated as a b16. |

Re: d16z6 vs d15b
D15B VTEC is not a POS, just the longer stroke of the D16's greatly help low end torque...........
and since these motors aren't being revved to the moon like a B16........... I've love to get into a RS debate on a boosted motor, it's sorta ass backwards.......just look at the boosted B18C's :) |
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
just get a d16z6 & boost the living crap out of it :y
get it to run 13's in a 1/4 then hit the streets of california! >:D |

Re: d16z6 vs d15b
I have a d15b with TT I beam rods and vitara pistons. I didnt have to notch the block or anything... no problems so far and I've had the setup for atleast 6 months
|
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
Hey sinner are the I-beams the one that do not need block notching? For some reason I thought the H-beams were non-notch. Last time I checked TT was out of stock. BTW who cares what is available when you are going FI. BTW the Vitara's will fit in both engines. ;D

Re: d16z6 vs d15b
engine code nog, but yeah 86-87 vac advance motors are diff.
|
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
the lob height between D15b and D16z does "look" identical, but the d15bs def.ly has more duration, u can tell jsut by eye-ball it.
|
Re: d16z6 vs d15b
buy the cheapest one.
