D16Y7 W/ GSR..

I have a D16Y7 with gsr throtle body and z6 or y8 intake manifold..
my question is.. would this be any different than just y7 mani and throtle body to work on the engine management? I'm going to upgrade the fuel injectors common ol' 450cc DSM bluetop.. and either AFC hack or standalone hondata. Can someone verify this for me please?

Aloha,

Terry.

what are we verifying...does the car run and idle like normal?

I guess my question is.. Will this be any different than any y7 or y8/z6. Because it's hybrid? I dont know. First time building a turbo.. So I have many stupid question due to being cautious.

idles @ 800~1100 rpm. it runs good.

should be fine as long as all the sensors are hooked up right

Whoa, wait. GSR TB on a Y7 or Y8/Z6? I thought you had to mod some things to sport a B-Series TB on a D-Series mani. Remember the Y7 TB faces the sun and is goofy, not your typical style.

Is it even worth it? Not being smart just saying. Seems like a low budget all-motor mod. :-\

im holding a d-series mani with a b16 tb on it right now...as for being worth it, i dont see how a bigger tb could hurt anything unless it was rediculously big

It'd be a help if anything, but is it worth getting one and rocking it? And do you see what I mean about the difference in the mani types of teh Y7 vs. the Y8? This is a direct bolt on? I thought there was more to it?

ive never seen a gsr tb...but anyway he said he swapped out the y7 mani already, but the bolt pattern between them and the other d-series manis is the same anyway.problems can arise from the iavc setups on different manifolds though

Cool. Thank you, buddy. ;) ;D Just trying to learn a little more when I can (especially from the OGs)

bah i dont know ----...i just ran outside to look at my pile of manifolds/tbs. im pretty sure the older d-series ---- is different though

its not, they are the same. bolt pattern wise atleast, only D series that is differant is 92-95 vx/cx, uses a completely differant bolt pattern than the rest. even H and F series TB fit D and B manifolds.

But fellas, let's talk WHP here. Is it even really WORTH doing it? I wouldn't think so, but I have no expierence with it.

It's like one of my friend's told me...he's got a 92 gsr and put a gude 68mm bored out throttle body on it...he told me he felt no power increase at all for the 300 some odd bux he spent on it, but man did it make his vtec sound really loud and mean ::) Actually I think it helps out with some torque along the way, plus lets you cram a larger volume of air down your intake under boost :6

Wierdfuk Y7 intake manifold fits a normal Honduh TB.

Re: D16Y7 W/ GSR..

So.. bottom line. I shouldn't have any problem boosting it right? I'd bolt the turbo on like I'd to the Y7. That's was my question..

and I'm not too sure what you guys are talking about being worth it or not.. if you're talking about my gsr tb on Y7. It was already done by previous owner. I just wanted to boost it and gain experience from it.

Yes boost the thing already. No issues or problems from running a GSR throttle body.

Re: D16Y7 W/ GSR..

The LS TB that I put on my Y8 matched and worked out, but the same TB on Crays Z6 I believe we had some vac issues. On a standard HMT setup, I don't think it would make a big enough difference (if any) to do it again.
