D16Y7 injectors

Turboing my 98 DX in the near future and just planning and gathering parts. I'm gonna run a FMU and missing link and 6 pounds of boost until I can save up for better management and turn up the boost to 8 or so.

What are the size of my stock injectors? I've heard they are 240, 220, and 180 so I'm not exactly sure. This will affect the disk I get for my FMU. Thanks.

Re:D16Y7 injectors

From a recent experince with a mini me swap we found out they are junk smaller than other honda injectors. Get some 240's

Re:D16Y7 injectors

Just get 450's and an afc or uberdata, You will be happier. Why bother buy 240's and an fmu!

Re:D16Y7 injectors

they are 240s, which are still ---- for boost

Go back and read my post. It said the FMU is just a temporary thing. I'm only going to be keeping boost at 5-6 lbs at that time - the FMU will be just fine for that. I just want to get boosted asap while saving for better management.

This thread is about the size of my injectors. Nowhere did I ask for recommendations on what kind of fuel management to use. I know all about the AFC hack and Uberdata, thank you very much, and I won't be using either of the two. ;)

So far in this thread somebody has said they are 240's and somebody has said they are smaller. Back to square one.

If it matters I have a D16Y8 intake manifold complete with the fuel rail and injectors - I could probably just use those.

Re:D16Y7 injectors

They are NOT 240's !!!!!!!!
Whoever says so is WRONG.
I confirmed this when trying to run a my chipped ecu on my pals STOCK Y7.
Car would BOG, STUTTER and not run.
When I installed Y8 injectors 5 mins later it ran PERFECT.

Venom also confirmed this when I saw a listing for after market y7 injectors. Stock size was said to be 190cc and the upgrade was some shitty 210 I believe.

Get some stock y8's or any other stock injector.

Re:D16Y7 injectors

haha

the debate continues. Right now I have 240, 210, and 190.

Why would EX injectors be 240's and DX injectors be 190?

Either way I have those y8 injectors laying around so maybe I should get them tested?

The only reason why I ask is because if the DX injectors are smaller I should consider getting a FMU with a disk that throws more fuel into the mix right? And yeah yeah yeah..I know the FMU sucks but for a temporary means of ensuring enough fuel for 6 psi is being used, I think it will be just fine.

Re:D16Y7 injectors

i have never heard of any honda injectors being anything other than 240cc except for prelude injectors.

Re:D16Y7 injectors

maybe your friends injectors were just ----...i have swapped y7 and y8 injectors into the same car with no difference at all

Re:D16Y7 injectors

i have also heard the injectors were smaller.

Same injectors with a STOCK ECU ?

turboboy 09-25-2004 10:13 PM

Re:D16Y7 injectors

yes, stock ecu

Re:D16Y7 injectors

EXACTLY my point.

His car worked fine on stock ecu with both y7 and y8 injectors.

Didnt run with y7 inj on chipped ecu but ran fine with y8 inj.

how does what i said prove your point?...im saying that the car ran fine with both y7 and y8 injectors, both with a stock ecu

D16Y8-Z6 09-26-2004 08:19 PM

Re:D16Y7 injectors

Re-read.

Both injectors ran with with a stock ecu.

But y7 injectors couldnt run the CHIPPED ecu.

And the y8 injectors could run the CHIPPED ecu.

turboboy 09-26-2004 08:25 PM

Re:D16Y7 injectors

i understand what youre saying...but it doesnt make sense. If both injectors worked the same with a stock ecu, i dont see why a "chipped ecu" would make one set work and another not work. What im saying is that maybe the y7 injectors just didnt work. but now im done because i dont have any hard evidence in either direction other than my experience

Re:D16Y7 injectors

well they are different according to honda. do a parts number check they are different so yes its safe to assume that y8's are bigger than y7's and y7's and y5's have the same part number too

D16Y8-Z6 09-27-2004 05:52 PM

Re:D16Y7 injectors

You say maybe the y7's just didnt work.

How is that possible when they work with the stock ecu fine ?

I know the chip ran extremely rich on my car, and on his too.

That might play a part in why they didnt work withthe chipped ecu.

Re:D16Y7 injectors

I just found out: All 6th gen civic injectors are 240's.

ya'll can stop bickering now. ;D

I looked in the helms manual for damn near an hour and couldn't even find out looking in there. ::) Luckily, last night I was thumbing through some old Honda Tuning Magazines and found an article about fuel tuning and the injector size was mentioned there.

The article was written by somebody from RC Engineering so I can trust that.

Re:D16Y7 injectors

Info from a good source.

But maybe Ill send out a extra set of y7 injectors to RC to get flow tested.

Just to double check.

Some things just DONT ADD UP.

Re:D16Y7 injectors

I can't believe I couldn't find the damn info in my Helms manual. :-\ I mean..it is a large book to look in but I combed the fuel section pretty thoroughly twice and didn't find the injector sizes.

If anybody can find this and point the page out to me that would be cool. Feel free to call me a dumbass if you can find it. ;D

Re:D16Y7 injectors

y7 injectors are 190, arent the ex injectors bigger since its vtec?

stargazer 09-28-2004 11:51 PM

Re:D16Y7 injectors

Yeah dude...the Y8 injectors need to be 50 CC larger for that other 21 HP the EX has over the DX/LX. ::)

They are all 240 CC

i dont see how this can be true if you go to your local honda dealership or www.hondaautomotiveparts.com you will find between the engines the part numbers are different for the injectors. why would honda make different parts if they produce the same results?

You can believe what you want. I'm going to believe that all 6th gen civic injectors are 240.
