Default Custom Turbo Adaptor Pipe Questions

Guys - as most of you know I'm working on a custom turbo setup that is leaving the a/c on the car. Right now I am at the dilemma of trying to figure out the best way to move the turbo towards the passengers side a few inches. But when I do this, the turbo of course doesn't match up with the hf manifold that I have, so this is what I'm thinking of doing? See pictures - I want to make a pipe that does a complete 360 deg turn and move the turbo over a few inches without dropping it down too far. My only worry is that with this 10" of pipe the turbo isn't going to spool very quick. So my question is - will this still spool quickly, or should I work on a different design. When I say spool quickly I'm saying sooner than 3500rpm on a d16a6 honda motor. This is my daily driver and I would prefer to not have a lot of lag. I am running a 14b tdoh4 turbo - and only about 7-9lbs of boost, 2" mandrel bent intercooler piping and a starion intercooler.

someone likes autocad.

your idea will work fine for what you're doing. getting it to fit will be the challenge.

So you don't think that it will lag very bad? I think it's a pretty smooth flowing design (once it gets out of the manifold) and I think I'm only going to use 2.25" piping for it, so it should build pressure quickly. I just had a friend that is running the same turbo and he's worried that it won't spool very quick.

im sure it'd probably spool just fine. if it ends up sucking *** you can always sell it as an AC compatible HF setup, someone will love that.

Ya, that's true - I could always sell it if it doesn't spool the way I want. I think it should be fine, and I think the design is kinda cool. I haven't fitted the turbo in the car yet with the a/c pump, so I may be able to get it closer, but this is the plan right now. We'll see how things go.

the easyer way would be to put a 90 of the header the straight pipe then 90 but the 90s will hurt the flow like hell but will also drop it down 4 or so inches

I thought about the 2 90deg pieces, but figured this idea would be better. As for fitment, I'm not too worried about that. I'm relocating both of the fans to the front of the radiator for more room. By we'll see when we start fitting everything.

will you support the turbo somehow? It looks like that setup might have problems with weight.

Ya, I'm going to build a mounting bracket for the turbo to mount it to the engine so the weight isn't supported on the manifold and adaptor pipe.
