Smile custom set up for 89 acura legend....

hi all, im a lil noobish on this forum and on the boosted engines. so im going to start saving and collecting the pieces needed for this build, i just want a fun daily driver and plan on running 7psi.but my major concern is this. would i need a computer chip/mod for the fuel system for this much boost and bigger injectors or just a fpr? also would a fmic be the best way to go or could i get away with a smic?

thx in advance for the replies and heres a pic of my car too.

YOu can get away with a SMIC but a FMIC will be far more effective, bigger surface area to help cool the intercooler and SMIC can be hard to mount in a good location that gets decent amount of air flow. I'm more familiar with civics when it comes to this stuff but you will need bigger injectors probably something like 440cc or a bit bigger would work fine) and most likely some type of ecu with tuning software in it (crome, neptune, hondata). I think by fpr you mean FMU (fuel management unit) these add a set amount of fuel dependent on each pound of boost the engine see's. However they are not tuneable and not reliable, not the best way to go. hope that gives you an idea...

Thanks for the reply, and fpr was for fuel pressure regulator. I think I may need to start thinking on a way for the computer since nobody does a chip for these cars or would a piggyback system be good? I'm trying to keep this on a budget so I can't be really picky on parts. I just need it to push some usable power

ya you can use a piggy back system but they are kind of like a FMU in that they are not tuneable either. I think that they are better than an FMU though, i know AEM makes one, not sure how well it works though. I wouldn't think you'd need to run an fpr for the power your running anyways but i could be wrong.
