Yeah, but that's a big process. You gave to buy the larger compressor wheel, machine the c26 to accept it, rebuild it, and have it re-balanced. That'll clear $350-$400 when it's all said and done, so IMO buying a brand new Garrett turbo for $450-$550 is probably the better option in the long run if you're going to spend $ anyway on upgrading the miserable ct26. It has funky flanges too. It just seems like a lot of trouble for a big turbo that really only can muster about what a 14b can.

its about 500 to have a ct26 redone and the turbo's not for everyone because of the odd flanges ,but if you have a mr2 or a supra like i do, its a great upgrade because i get to keep my stock manifold and piping lol

i think i'd rather spend the money on a new garret than have the ct26 modded too..

but what about the twinscroll turbos in general.. is there any benefits to it if the manifold itself is a log style single scroll?

I never could understand why so many people have a hard on for the Ct26? :S :S :S I agree that a T3/4 or holset would be a better choice.

No, not really. Its going to function like a regular single scroll turbo if your manifold isn't divided too

Re: ct26

CT26 = bullshit line of turbo's that won't out power a garrett and have probablems being reliable for any length of time.
CT26a = same piece of bullshit off the 7m-gte's but will out power the biggest rare t3's t3 (Super-60 + 1 or .82 turbine housing)

Toyota turbo's = failing at life harder than KKK or MHI turbo's. THe superchargers are cool, but the turbos are ------- GAY

the reliability is almost as hit and miss as good china turbos, just without a return policy for when it won't work.

If u already got the ct26 use it . Half of the people saying not to use it probably never even seen the turbo in reality, probably read about it somewhere on the internet. Got alot of friends using that very turbo on their car with zero complaints

and if you are an mr2 guy, you should hit up mr2guru either on here or on his website. He has a 400hp mr2 himself, and I visited his shop on my way through NC, and he just has piles of toyota parts (mr2/celica/etc) from engines to turbos to anything. Good guy that does some good work too

myself included about the reading.. i've read more bad things about it than good, and most of the good things are about modding it with garret internals..

been to his site.. he's probably the only one that i've read of that actually likes the ct26 off the mr2's. if i remember correctly he doesn't recommend the garret internals. from what he saids seems like the ct26 is a pretty good turbo designed for the mr2.. if i can find a way to mount this turbo, i'll use it until i can afford something better..

Smart move, actually its good that most people think that they are pos , those of us who know better will pick these snails for next to nothing when they swap to something else. Anyone got a link to the site you guys are talking about ?
