Crack in my CC-Fab log? *Update 2*
 

This is not a big deal...or is it?
I don't really give a ---- about cosmetic ----, but this crack has been getting bigger slowly, and I am starting to worry. Is my log going to slpit right the ---- in half? If it looks bad, I'll talk to josh about it... I noticed it before, pm'ed him, then decided it didnt look worthwhile. But it's been growing so... :-\

Anyways, here are the pictures. I'll take more if neccesary.

Out of the 60 or so manifolds I made I had the one crack that was in the fab section and Samson got a slight crack on his log I made a long while back. Sch 40 is best for logs. Its the nature of the game. Too much heat, short area, no flow.

No I didnt know. Prior to it growing, a local fab guy told me surface cracks are ok. Then, instead of bothering josh I just asked if it was fine in the forum. I am not shitting on his work, all his other welds are holding great even the retarted turbo flanges (turbo retarted not josh or the flanges). CCFab #1. And I did pm him, and he is going to take care of it, no worries nigs.

too much undercut = mucho cracks :8 but i must say this is the first i've seen or heard of any problem with cc-fab manis.

Mine did the same thing with maybe some little cracks on some spots, but mine is not that bad. I had to take my manifold off and get it TIG'd though. I don't really see you getting a good weld with it on the car, but then again you drove around like that. It does hurt spool time and effect your car's performance, you DO know this right? ::) Mine wasn't all that BIG though, maybe that long, but not that wide or ------ apart. David is straight though and offered to get it all taken care of; however, it was easier and faster to have it TIG'd at Dad's work. Gets hot especially at a restrictive area as such. Happens. JK told me his cracked like 5 times, but I think his buddy made his.



EDIT: Watch when you weld it not to get it to hot or it will warp the head flange. :-*

Wouldnt it be better to re weld the crack with it still mounted to the engine? I would think that would prevent it from distorting to much.

But anyway if you can find a good welder that should be a quick cheap fix. If you dont care about cosmetics and if you lived near me I would mig it for free.

If I get another mani, it has to be identical to this one. My whole kit is built with about 1mm of tolernace on every pipe. :6 I'd send it back, but that would mean a week at leats wethout my car. Not gonna happen with school/full time job.

Ask CC-Fab what they recommend to do. Maybe they can cross ship you a new one. Other wise go to an exhaust shop 30 minutes before they close. Bring a crisp 20 or two. Someone will fix it.

::) yea try it. if you came to my job at the last 30 mins. and ask for some ---- like that we'll tell you hell no. why do people wait til the last minute to rush in to get ---- done? do you actually think we are gonna give you some kinda last minute discount? you have a better chance showing up first thing in the morning

I've done stuff like that a few times, ususally 30 min before most shops close the boss is long gone or in the back office doing ----. Gives you a good chance to slip an employee $20 to get the job done. Thats all I meant by it.
