Before i get flamed, i tried searching this and all i got highlighted was the cp in ycp pistons.
Are cp pistons any good? I have heard about some sort of clearancing needed for the valves or something, anyone have any ideas? Anyone here running them in a daily driven vehicle? Thanks much

They're fine just take the sharp corners off with some emory cloth. Not a whole lot of sanding just enough to take the edge off.

The ones on the B-series pistons where the outside of the piston gets real thin and sharp where the intake valve reliefs are, which are famous for blowing out and toasting your motor.

Still be wise to do it, aside from that CP's are great pistons. When i took my valve relief edges down i used a 3bar scale to make sure they all weighed the same.

If your piston looks like its machined out like this, you have the newer fixed models and should be just fine.


If the arn't down take some sand paper or something and take the edges down like this, I did mine even a little more than these ones.


If you don't do it this is what WILL most likely happen.

I don't like them, the valve reliefs are too thin, yes I've used them before, I've used all the pistons for honda on the market except for ross in my personal application. my favorite is Wiseco. but my new favorite judging from looks are Mahle. I will be running those now.
my 3 favorites are WISECO, MAHLE, ARIAS...............3 least favorite are CP, JE, SRP.

everyone has there likins... there are alot of seriouse CP followers, i myself hasn't had a ton of experience in the aftermarket piston field but from all the research i did CP seemed to be a damn good option.

I like JE, what were your dislike about them? Off the top of my head I'm going to guess you had ring seating problems.

looks cheap, and rings seating also, and for some reason I don't know the rings left a scar on the cylinder walls.
