I wouldn't pay over $100 for a downpipe. However, when most shops hear "turbo" and "custom" I think they just assume they can rape you, so they do.

the best price in down pipe fabbibg will be found if you can find someone that does that type of thing for money on the side or someone that'll go to your house with their welder and do it on site. don't take your car to meinakee and expect for them to make a downpipe for $40.

are you serious?...does it give good head? lemme see some pics of this work of art
as soon as i get my car back from the shop, ill post pics, the reason for it costing so much was because i live in Fairfield County, ever shop around here charges 100bux and hour, ill i had to pay for was the labor, not materials or weld wire and gas. and yes the thing is mint, 100% tig welded. and im sure if you wanted it to it could give head

Made mine for about $30. It's the 3" one without the flex pipe on it. The flexpipe one was the first piece of ---- downpipe I ever made. My 3" is a little cleaner. lol

hey whitey, for the tiny angles on the downpipe, do you know if there is any decrease the flow because it is not a smooth flow when air goes through it? BTW, your fabbing is looks good

haha, my first one had those angles on it. I'm sure it was decreasing flow because I had all kinds of welding wire stuck in there and everything. All I had to cut the angles with was an angle grinder :P. But I suppose it you do it cleanly and correct, you won't have that much disturbance in flow.

I don't think my bends decrease flow at all. If you clean the bends than there's nothing for the gases to swirl on and therefore there is no loss in performance. And plus, its a 3.5 inch downpipe on a D-series motor, the sizing alone is over kill.

Here's a pic of the inside, judge for yourself if you think it wouldn't flow smooth:

im going to go up there tommoro with my car and see how much they would charge me for just the 2.5 piece not including the wastegate piece. If its fairly cheap, which it should be ill get them to do that. then just weld a piece for the wastegate

i'm so glad I got my own welder and do my own stuff, I hate bring car to shops knowing that i'm going to get ripped off and still have to bite the bullet.
