Default compression reducer

what thickness head gasket should I get to lower the compression on my b16? what compression should I shoot for 8-12 psi. I'll be in miami next week for 10 days, race engineering sells them for $80.

i've heard both good and bad about thicker Head gaskets to lower comp ratio.

the gasket mat is more likely to blow out if its thicker. so I've heard.

lots of people run boost on stock b16.

i bought the thick head gasket for the zc engine from race eng. and it only lasted about 3 weeks on zero boost. so be careful what you buy. make sure the gasket you buy is not a flat gasket but on with embossing on it, other wise known as bumps. these bumps are what ensure a tight seal around the cylinders. the zc head gasket they sell has no bumps, is totally flat and is sold as strictly experimental, event though they won't tell you that up front. just make sure and do your research and make a few phone calls to the people that manufacture the gasket you are looking at buying.

dude, just use a stock head gasket, it's not that big of a deal, besides, anything else, and you're really just taking a chance. b16 is fine to boost with stock compression

R U SURE? are you using me as guinnie pig? can I boost 10 psi? uh? then I will just get a stronger head gasket, because I blew my stock head gasket with 5 psi.

it was prolly time for it to go anyways, people boost over 10 psi on stock head gaskets all the time

the head gasket was replaced a month before the turbo was installed, I also blow my rings too they are not totally gone cause car is still driveable. but I bought new rings and I want to make the right choice of head gasket when I replace the rings, I will give all the options a try I will stick with one that works, I dont want to blow my motor because I'm in the Army stationed in Germany I will be here for a while,I'm married to a German woman. and it sucks here when it comes to car perfomance, parts are expensive and the dont deal anything performance/artermarket, so all my parts are from the us, sh sucks too much.

I have a 2mm head gasket in my d16 and it put the compression to 8:0.1. Make sure you get a stackable headgasket if you get a thicker one (over 1mm). Just remember when you lower your compression your taking power out of the motor. So if you do lower your compression you have to run extra boost just to match your stock horsepower. your best bet is get a slightly thicker COPPER head gasket, not ceramic
