Compression Q?
Ok here goes, im tired of hearing about all this crap that you can't boost a high comp engine. Correct me if im wrong but isn't that total bullsh*t?? Higher comp engines juss mean it takes less boost for higher numbers? I assume that its not a safe as a lower comp engine on boost, but every motor has it limits. People say to change out my pistons and what nots, i understand this but you also lose HP by doin this, thus leading to be capable of higher PSI's. But... you juss lost HP with the piston change out so all in all it should be roughly the same HP in the end. Correct

well, let me clarify my response, i don't mean that new pistons and ---- will reduce the horsepower, cuz they don't, just that high compression engines aren't really reliable at all with high boost applications. of course, you can spend money to finely tune all the aspects of your car to run higher boost.

What brought this up for me is that many people have told me that i can run 10 PSI max on my B16 with stock internals, Which is completely fine with me. That should put me well over 200hp. But if i were to change out my pistons and what nots i could run 15-20 PSI.

i don't know if i would run that high on a civic engine as a daily driver, maybe when your racing, but that's pushing it. the pistons and rings would definitely help, then you could probably push 12-14 psi, but that's really pushing it. you never know tho, i guess it a dependson how you build it up, but i wouldn't push it too hard

Also note that i very rarely drive it hard, don't ask why im turboing it. Juss something else to do to my car I barely even hit vtec often. So im guessin 8 psi should be fine for my type of driving. Thanx for the info guys...

Remember Boost is compression! Its the same thing. I don't want to get into the whole static compression thing but high compression motors can handle boost, you just need really good fuel management. A lower compression motor is more forgiving because it takes more boost to make power.
When you lower the compression of your motor your taking away horsepower and you need to compensate it with more boost. For example a motor with 11.0.1 compression with 5psi of boost would make the same Hp as a motor with 7.5.1 compression at 14psi (these aren't actual numbers just examples)
