Clutch Options

Okay, my current clutch is already slipping and with a turbo in 2 weeks it wont be good. I wanted a 6 puck or stage 2 but I cant afford them. So would a new stocker hold out for a while. I can get one for the third of the price as a Centerforce or ACT and it has a 3 year EVERYTHING is covered warrenty. So if I burn it out in 2 months new clutch no cost!

Or I can get a clutch net disc and use a Stock Pressure plate?

your answer is NO. a new stock clutch will not hold boost.. also i'm pretty sure the warranties don't go for non-stock boosted cars. they will pretty much know once it goes out in 2 months or sooner. but if it says that in the warranty then its up to you... i'd rather save for a better clutch, its a lot more money but a thousand times more reliable!

WHAT MOTOR? I still have the stock clutch on my B16 for almost a year and 8 psi with NO PROBLEMS... WHAT MOTOR?

Re:Clutch Options

DOHC ZC and will be running 6-8 psi. Yes the warrenty will cover, I asked the parts manager, he knows what I'm doing and he laughed and said that I could get away with it. I dont have $400 to drop on a clutch. I have to pay for school!

Re:Clutch Options

Just get one from Mike in classifieds. (At the top) Worth not having to do a clutch swap a million times.

or look on ebay. i got my act 6 puck set and lightened flywheel for 385

bumblezc 03-27-2004 03:51 PM

Re:Clutch Options

To me 385 is 508.20 CAN funds. Plus about another 50-60 for shipping and handling and duties! OUCH!!!! every one from Mike would be 343.20 CAN plus all the duties again. I cant afford that. Which suck. My stocker just started letting go about 2 weeks ago. I was hoping to hold onto it for a while. Egay Doesn't have any upgraded clutches for my tranny/flywheel.

Okay, just got a reply from clutch net and their discs are not to badly priced and I heard that they are fair good quality. BUT they're pressure plate is expensive. Could I use a New stock Pressure plate? How would it hold up?

but why when you can get a Clutch Specialties clutch from our Classifieds for cheap, cheap!??

i don't think ive heard one bad thing about the clutch 88turbocrx is offering... I run it and i think its probably one of the best features on my car, next to the gas pedal. ;D

Again, it would be expensive. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP is more like $ 360 my funds. I can get a dual friction centerforce for about the same and have it next day from a local shop. when you you have to pay for school and so on that's alot of money. specially when you go fucked over on the first turbo you bought also so funds have to recover from that too. I think I'm going to ride out my stocker for a few weeks after the install then upgrade.
