Suspect the oil pan cause when I pull out the turbo return line oil shouldnt leak out of the oil pan right ?

If it is that only means ther is oil in the pan higher than the return line.
yes the return should sit higher then the oil level so oil does not built up.

it is not the pan that matters but where you tap it, tap it higher but don`t count on me coz i don`t want to see you crying telling me i bulled and it didn`t help :P

either way i think it would be the best to frist TAKE OUT THE TURBO KIT and look for the same symptoms like mike said.

The return line should always have a downward pitch, from the turbo right into the pan.

Is there anything on the inside of the pan that would make the return or drainage blocked? Having oil come out of the pan from the oil drain is fucked up...

IHI turbos sometimes crack in the center section

unscrew the turbo water inlet and outlet

Plug either the inlet or outlet, pressure test the center section by the unplugged water hole. If it leaks, then the turbo sends water in your turbine and exhaust and that's your problem right there.

My old IHI smoked like a mother, with that same thick white smoke you described. I got a new one and the problem was solved, even at high oil pressures (60-75) I am yet to see smoke. That's probably your problem.

my oil leaks out of my pan too when i take off my return line. not sure why either but my car doesn't smoke and i've had the turbo in my car for about six months. my uncle had a similar problem after a hard run. his car started smoking like crazy and he suspected he blew something in his motor. but after taking off his turbo his car ran fine so he must have messed up his turbo. Like the other guys said it's best for you to take off the turbo and see how your car runs.

First i whould tap my oil pan higher cuase its sopose to be above the oil line, so ur oil could be backing up into the turbo, make sure ur oil return is at a downward pitch, how much oil did u put in that bitch, usally SOHC D series take 3.5 quarts

That happened to my buddy's probe GT. Obviously the same IHI turbo. It was starved of oil for a second (feed line broke), and it started to smoke white. We replaced the turbo, and it didn't smoke

Try running the car with no coolant going into the turbo, disconnect and plug the lines. If it dosn't smoke, voila - problem diagnosed. I'd let it run for a little bit if it does smoke on start up just incase there was some coolant left in there to be burned off. I'd just try running it with no coolant for a couple of days - maybe one or two.

The oil return line is taped at the higest point in the oil pan.
With out the turbo there is no smoke.

Will try building a new oil pan and report back.
If that dosent help will strip the turbo and chk for problems.
The issue is had to wait 3 years to get this trubo from the US.
Sourcing watter cooled turbos in this part of the world isnt easy.

Since Ive drained of the excess oil smoking seems to have come done quite a bit hoping for the best.
